I have had my H340 for well over a year +. And loved it. Best player Ive owned. Its my 3rd. Now with Rockbox, it realy breathed new life into the thing. Id say its more practical and functional than my pocket pc, and thats pretty darn functional. If I could just get rockscrobbler reporting all my tracks then Ill be content with it.

Rarity value, man
I love the fact that no-one else I know, apart from one dude in a computer store, has got one of these, and I love the fact that it beats any other mp3 player I see.
The thing I really love, though, is the fact that the player obviously trusts the user and doesn't force you to follow what the manufacturer thinks you want to do. I love being able to use great little apps like Tag Database Tool to run the player, and I love being able to skin it however I wish (although I always find myself coming back to the old skool retro original look). My H320 is far and away the best thing I have bought in years.

Greetings all..... my first post. I bought my h340 almost a year ago cos all my research pointed to it being simply the best of the bunch.... great sound quality, lots of formats, drag n drop....and I have never looked back. Later, thanks to Misticriver, I found it could play video as well! So many features I haven't even used them all yet..

i love the fact that its the full package.
It does everything you need it to. A couple of my favourite functions are the record facility (its just great), and the simplicity of plug in to your pc and go, just drag and drop. You can have it set up in the same way your files are on your pc (thats how i have mine set up). |
|
|||
|
1. ease of use/ mod capability
2. drag and drop ($%#! itoons) 3. video playback 4. storage capacity 5/6. line in/out coupled with recording make this player indispensible 7. physical size I'd add more but I haven't devoted enough time to some of the other things mentioned like ROCKBOX and skin modding to comment on them |

-When I first got it (before iPods were color or played movies) I could play movies and see pictures.
-When my friend got an iPod photo he goes: "Check it out...I got porn on my iPod" and proceeded to show me nude photos of Jenna Jameson...I promptly pulled out my H320 and said "Check it out...I got porn on mine." and proceeded to show him Jenna Jameson in action. -It's fat. Slim-line shlim-line. I like my electronics massive. I got a big camera, a big player, a big tower...you get the point. Call it stupid male mentality. -Fun to Mod. -Price (cheaper than iPod yet comes with more features and accessories than you can wave a firewire at) -Line-In recording...actually this is what made me choose this player. -Excellent microphone. -Great support (while it was under warranty). I worked at Best Buy for a time and got to deal with all the unhappy iPod customers woes about them charging to replace a faulty battery, not replacing faulty units, not including a wall charger, etc. A simple phone call to iRiver got me a new unit (twice). Once when lightning killed it and the second when it wouldn't turn on anymore. No questions asked...just sent me a new player. -I don't need to convert everything to iTunes. -I don't need to say more. |

Wow where can I start. Well, it has great sound quality, recorder, plug and play with no need of itunes or addtional software, large HD capcity, rugged and most importantly serviceable and upgradeabilty. Also you really stand out in a ocean of ipod users.

I remember when I jumped on this mp3 bandwagon and got my Rio (super sized lethal weapon brick) Riot a week after it came out, spent about £450 and thought it was the best thing ever! Ipod came out about roughly the same time and one of my friends purchased one laughing at my player's size. I didn't really care at the time because even he was impressed at it's menu layout and features (he had no radio and no otf playlists.....haha) Only thing i hated and I mean REALLY hated was the software you had to use....real player! Pain in the arse software (and thats when it didn't crash) which must've been created by beelzebub when he felt he had nothing better to do! I swore i'd try and get a player with better software in the future. Then the bloody thing crashed after 6 months (Many tears were shed as I didn't back up Any of my 3,000+ tracks!) Spent a looooong time researching what to get next as I wanted functionality if i was gonna spen £300+ again. Did not want to use the Crapple Ipoo as I also hated using itunes and the fact that that i couldn't go to my friends house and get any mp3's without them having itunes installed. Then i finally heard about this forum and posted a question asking about Iriver and this H320 that i have heard about through my research and i got really good advice stating all the units features.....inline recording?! Video playback?!!!! NO SOFTWARE NEEDED?!!!!!!! well that sold me straight away. Someone even suggested i get the H340 as I'll probably fill up the memory (Man, was he right!) Proud owner of the H340 and haven't looked back since.... Reasons why I loooove my H340: 1. Three of my friends are dj's. When I go to their clubs and if I like their mixes, they just plug my H340 into their decks...and hey presto instant mixes! 2. Same for the house parties I go to, just plug it into their system, record and laugh at the amazed Ipoo owners at the place! 3. Watching music videos and anime to and from Uni and now work. 4. Converting all of my dad's classic soul vinyls to mp3. 5. I know this is getting played out but.......ROCKBOX! (and thank the gods for TDT!) 6. It's black which matches all of the gadgets i own 7. I like being original 8. NO SOFTWARE NEEDED! Mwahahaha! (errr....sorry) 9.Connects to my and friends psp's so i can nick their music 10. and finally 2 of my friends who owned ipoos, played around with my H340 and sold their ipoos in disgust on ebay and now both own a H320's.......pricele ss! |

I love the fact that when ever a new mp3 player comes out it usually seems to have less features or poorer sound quality or more annoying software (any software) that the H320.
What a beast machine!!!! |

it depends only on how much space you want on the hdd, H320 is 20Gb and H340 is 40Gb...
As for me i love: ROCKbox DOOM the oscilloscope plugin 20+ Hour battery life Videos (mainly southpark) and UMS wooo |
|

|
Love to carry around why whole CD collection...
Love that the firmware can be modded... Love that it just plugs in to my PC via UMS and I can use to as a portable storage device (got it synced via Second Copy so my music and 'fun files' at home and work are always up to date!)... Love that it's not another bloody iPod. Love that it's a chunky little beasty. Love that i can upgrade the battery myself (and the HD one day). EDIT: Oh, forget to mention line-in MP3 recording... It's breathed new life into my old vinyl music collection. I'd hardly listened to it in years but having ripped it to mp3 (and copied to CD while I was at it) I'm now enjoying it all over again.

On that theme, I find I'm rediscovering albums and tracks I'd not listened to for years thanks to the shuffle function...

All of the above things......... And the text function. I downloaded a shit ton of books from the net, and i can just read them whenever and wherever I am. E book thingys are barely out yet, and the iriver does all that. Only problem is it only goes to 240kb, then you've got to split the file, but that's easy enough!
And the korean hardware is LOUD! |
