I would not risk using your phones adapter. Unless you know the specifications of the adapter, and that they match the specs set out in the first post.

Many units have been fried by people using their mobile phone's adapter by accident!

[E] Interestingly, just noticed the adapter you mention is USB.
I'm not sure about those.. never used one.
I won't take a guess and say it will be fine. But if somebody knows.....

I can't see why using a US AC adaptor through a converter in the UK could possibly have damaged your battery - the AC adaptor that comes with the H300 is rated between 100 and 240V (AC) IIRC.

whot do you do if this happend It's worth noting here that another H300 has had the 'Charging Circuit' 'Burnt out' due to a multi-voltage adapter with polarity switching, set to a voltage of 9v

You buy a new one or you send it back to iRiver and pay them to repair it.

So can it be confirmed that the PSP charger is safe to use?

Only in so far as what other people have posted. I've not used one.
But if the specifications are the same, then theres no reason why a PSP charger wouldn't work.

There are a large number of members here who use the PSP charger and have no problems.

True, this isn't an absolute confirmation but what more can we offer up?

I may have used a 6V battery charger on my iRiver. What are symptoms of "battery burnout"?

Currently my problems include: whenever i turn on my iRiver, it shows as "Connected" and when plugged in USB, it works. Every so often if flickers off. in this sense, i cant listen to music because it always shows Connected. Also when I charge, it charges except it never loses the Connected sign and I cant turn it off. Reset is only method. When charging with appropriate charger, now it shows "Charging..." but when I unplug it, it says "Please remove external battery pack" and freezes. Again, reset is only method.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem after I connected my H320 to a cigarette lighter power adapter with the wrong polarity. The hard drive is OK but something else (mother board or one of the chips) are fried and I have had to send it to the Iriver distributor here in Australia. It will cost up to $160 to repair the unit.

I am now going to try and get an original Iriver cigarette lighter power adapter from the Iriver Europe site as the Australian distributor does not import them into Australia. Sometimes I think we may as well live on Mars

My advise is don't stuff around with 3rd party power adapters. Get the genuine article and you can't go wrong.

Cheers - Kym

Slightly off topic (but only a little bit). Does anyone know of an AC adaptor/charger that doesn't result in you getting zapped everytime you touch the metal component of the DAP? (The metal surround to the remote connector and the screw heads, primarily.) I have a stone floor in the room where I keep the charger and if I'm not wearing shoes the belt I get off the thing is really quite unpleasant (never mind the smell ).

I'm not sure if you read my thread a while back but I know that if you have a motorola V3 razor mobile phone then the charger works fine (as far as i've used it). The charger doesn't work in the AC jack but in the USB jack in the bottom, as long as you have the iriver set to USB charge then it works a treat. It's quicker than charging from a P.C/ MAC aswell. I believe that the conection is different via USB charge so i think it would probably be safer than sticking any old thing in the AC socket.

Casio Elixim EX-S500, Digital Camera, Charger

Input: 100-240V ~ 50-60Hz 83mA

Output: 5.3V == 650mA

I've been using it for some time now, with no sign of affect to battery life, despite the Voltage being 5.3V

They have different connectors.
You are correct though - they are both rated at 5V, 2A.

I don't know of any commercially available cables, but if you're handy with a soldering iron you could take your H120 charger and H320 to a Radioshack or similar and find an appropriate plug and socket.
