Cameras/ Card Readers which Do/Don't work with H3xx series NO DISCUSSION

Hiya gang. Brief tutorial ere'. In order to make sure that this works, and remains in a constant state of foward progress, we ALL must be careful to stick to a specific structure when posting the following information:

Camera Brand and Model name/#
Card reader Brand/model name
Card Manufacturer/name/amount of memory
OS (Win 95/98/98SE/2000/ME/XP (home;pro) or Mac
What Service pack if any is being used as well as any relevant driver information

Some cameras work straight away, without a card reader, please be sure to make a note of that so irrelevant information isnt' floating about. If you have a camera that doesn't work without a card reader, please make sure to post the card reader info AFTER the camera info. in other words, make sure to have them be seperate entries.

After all that, if you feel that you need to comment, keep it brief and to the point, as I'd rather this not really turn into a total discussion about the brands and how good or bad they may be, or a discussion about how Iriver really goofed on this or that...Let's keep this strictly for the sake of reference, so that newbs can have easy access to it. I was thinking about having sub sections, where I create specific Camera Brands for quicker access, but I'm not sure of how fast people will be scooping up the 3xx series, so I'll keep it simple for now. Any ideas on how to further organize this if it gets big, are more than welcome ...just PM me. The next post from me is THE template to follow and is a REAL entry given to me from Skeeve. The ones after it, are from the other thread, and real as well. (I'm just waiting on some info from Skeeve, and the thread shall be ready to go.

Until then, please do NOT post any information. I'd like you all to follow my lead...10Q

Doug

Camera Test:

Camera: Pentax Optio S4i
OS: XP Pro SP1
Camera Drivers Installed

Does NOT work on H340
Comments: Detects the camera when plugged in/switch on but does not show SD card contents

Card Reader Test:
Model: Unbranded SD/MMC card reader (cheapo from Ebay)
Drivers Needed: No
This device works well with H340. I Was able to copy/paste/delete with no problem.

PLEASE NOTE: In order for this card reader to work because it's body is larger than the USB plug itself, I had to use a USB extension cable due to the design of the iRiver HOST cable which has a long deep socket (very bad design by iRiver)

But you do notice the drop in transfer speed from USB2 to USB1.1. I purchased it to copy digital files while away and it will work a treat. Would have been nice if it supported PTP camera as well like the Belkin digital camera link.

Both my 880 and 8700 Coolpixs work fine on a direct connection. No such luck with card readers though. My Olympus 770 also works fine for what it's worth.

Fuji Finepix S7000
Sansdisk 64Mb CF card.
H340, EU unit using firmware from 1.00 EU through 1.25K (excludes US specific firmware)

WinXP Pro (stock -> SP2), Win2k Pro and all Server editions, Windows Server 2003 Ent Edition - UMS mode, hence MS driver support used.

I only use the CF card slot on camera for storage, so XD isn't covered here...

In UMS mode (camera is selectable for UMS and direct print, direct print, or PC Cam mode), immediate pick up in browser mode.
