I'm amazed at how people can come up w/ these fonts and skins. I haven't attempted it yet, but how hard is it, really? Does it require a lot of time? Just curious...

To come up with the fonts or skins; or to actually put them on the device. Well skins I believe are harder, fonts can be fustrating with the little cut offs. Other than that, I think Fonts are fun, you should try it.

I cannot replace Hangul (Korean font)

Hi:

I am happy with the English font, but I am very upset with the Korean font. I was trying to change / replace it with some other font on my system, however Hangul is the one that I cannot replace, by using H3mod. Why ? Can someone tell me why ?

My knowledge of the Korean writing system is very limited, but I think
that the hangul syllables are combined of a limited set of elements. So
instead of storing >11000 Hangul syllable signs, iriver only stores the
small elements, in different sizes depending on where in the character
they are used.

To automatically replace a font, H3Mod needs the unicode id of characters,
and since for Hangul there are no unicode characters, but only graphic
elements, it can't be done.

You can still change them: save the iriver Hangul font to a gif file, and
edit it in a graphics editor. Just write some Korean text in the font of
choice and cut and paste the elements over the iriver ones. Then load
the gif back into the font dialog. If you take care that the new elements
are not bigger than the old ones, you should be fine.

Wink Hangul Font

Hi Julius:

Thanx for your response. You're right on the elements that form up Korean characters. I know Korean, but it's going to be a tough job to edit as GIF, one by one. The characters shown in the table are way too small and I need to spend much time to edit each of them. Can you recommend a graphic tool that you used to create yours (besides Hangul) ? Thanx.

I'm afraid mixin has not been online in a while, "around the world trip" comes to mind, so your request for hosting will not be answered any time soon.

I doubt that font will be made to work on the H300's. Its far to wide and would require alot of editing to make it fit properly.

The font template used to display those numbers is Identical to 'latin extended 8x16' IIRC, but is yet to be found in the firmware. If you want to change those you can either wait untill a somebody finds the image in the firmware or hunt it down yourself in advanced mode (not easy at all).

Edit, to change the bitrate numbers you must change the small numbers template (the font image with only one to ten).

The first thing most people do when faced with an electronic device is how to turn it on. I think the On/Off written on the Play/Stop buttons was just more helpful. Why they only put it on the US players, who knows

This thread is getting a little off topic............... ....

@aokh1979: I didn't create any fonts. H3Mod just saves what is
already in the firmware, so there is no way to use bigger characters
than what is predefined. Since fonts are black and white (no anti aliasing),
and working on them with gifs is mostly pixel by pixel, any graphics
program will do. It's more a question of patience than tools here...

Here I have put more work into Pixel10. I think it worked out great. Here are some samples.

Sorry, I don't really know how to show images.

Here is the fixed version: http://www.misticriver.net/photos/images/thumb_zip.jpg

*some of the pictures you see are not really exact as I kind of messed around with H3mod. Like some of the text on the screen looks off, but I assure you that it looks great on the player.

Here I present to you, The Snoot.org Pixel10 Font Pack.

It is a fine, clean font which I believe is very clear to read.

The only bad thing is that the W both capital and little are slashed. Not a big thing, though the little w looks like an upper case small n, but I think you can tell the difference.

*Sorry, I don't know how to get a screenshot like the others.
I liked this font very much. I fixed the "W" & "w".

Here's a screenshot

and the file.

Hi all!

After changing the font to Arial (FW 1.29j) and loading a new skin, the player started to hang if trying to go to the menu. So that means it plays Musik, but its not possible to downgrade or regrade FW and change any options inside of player. Is this the END? How to update the FW to normal, how to make it runs again?! (((( THX to all!!!
