wiring an H140 into car - help
ok, i have watned to do this for a long time and today, i finally got round to attempting it.
to cut a long story short, i mounted the remote on my dash with the cable running behind the dashboard into the glovebox where my iRiver sits out of the way. the headphones cable from the remote again goes into the dash and comes out next to the head unit and lugs into the aux-in. Everything is very nice, and im very pleased but there are 2 things that i need to fix: 1: need a better way of mounting the remote onto the dash (i dont want to glue it) 2: i need to get power to the iriver somehow but i dont want anything plugged into my cigarette lighter and i dont know how to go about it. any suggestions would be very helpful thanks |

You could install a new power outlet in the glove box. Go to radio shack and buy a new outlet, they are under $15. Then wire it to a power source and install it wherever it is convienient. I did this in my 4runner so i would not have to have the iriver charger always plugged in on the dash.
For the remote i used a zip tie to attach it to the tilt lever for the steering wheel. So now i can reach the controls for the stereo volume and the remote for the player with the same hand. It works out quite nicely.

I have had the exact same idea. I do not know how to power the unit but i am interested to know.
But as far as mounting it in your dash my idea was to get hold of some strong magnets. I would then glue 2 to the remote belt clip and 2 more to the dash. maybe on a piece of plastic that can be glued with some silicone. Im currently in progress of doing this mod but il let people know what it turns out like. If anyone has a spare remote that they wish to sell let me know..... |

You can power up your DAP with an single electronic component called 7805 which is available in every electronic store which sells electronic components.
![]() Just put the left pin (1) to your Car battery (PLUS) The middle pin (2) to The Car Ground (Case) and to the case of the connector The right pin (3) to the Plus pin of the Iriver Power Connector Attention: Do not forget to cool the 7805. I just screwed it onto the case of my car |

If you have an H1xx player, use the connector from a Nokia charger.
MAKE SURE YOU GET THE POLARITY CORRECT OR YOU WILL FRY YOUR PLAYER! Nokia chargers have the wrong polarity so don't plug it into your player with the charger switched on.

Are you SURE a Nokia charger physically fits the iHP-120/140? I have several Nokia chargers from various newer and older Nokia phones which all appear to have the same plug and none of them fits into my iHP-120. They seem to be either slightly too large on the outside diameter and/or the inner pin hole is too small.
Also, the Nokia chargers I have use a -(+)- pin polarity. That seems to be the same as the polarity on my iHP-120 charger, not opposite. Maybe Nokia phones have different power connectors for US vs. UK handsets? In any event, I strongly caution anyone trying to use a non-iRiver charger to make sure to check and double-check all of the details themselves instead of just trying something because you saw it on-line. It may be right if your situation matches that of the person posting the details 100%, but it could be wrong and you may fry your player. Rob |

I don't have a Nokia charger handy as I don't own a Nokia phone anymore, so I can't comment on the polarity. I thought the polarities of the Nokia and iRiver chargers were opposite though, hence the relatively large number of people who have fried their players using a Nokia charger.
The old style Nokia charger tip (3.5mm) definitely fits the H1xx players, as I've used one for building an external battery pack. I seem to remember it was a bit of a tight fit, but not impossible to get in.
