H1XX Bookmarks with H3Mod

Hi all,
H3Mod can now modify our H1xx firmwares, as you may have seen a couple of days ago. Since Lord Julius doesn't own himself a H1xx, the maintaining of the bookmarks isn't a high priority to him. It would be interesting if us, H1xx owners, just take this job in charge. H3Mod has a fantastic built-in function which allow us to litterally "browse" the firmware to find new pictures. What I'm thinking of is a thread where everyone who's searching new bookmarks in the firmware could post what's been found. In order to have reproducible bookmarks I think we should post this way :

Before everybody starts searching: bookmarks are firmware specific, so you need
to tell in which version you found them. And if you want them to be part of the
H3Mod defaults in the future, you best search the iHP 100 1.40 EU firmware.
These are easiest to add for me. Of course, if an image only exists in other versions,
that rule does not hold

Thanks Lord Julius that's a good piece of a advice

. Can you tell me if there's a thread were the bookmarking method and use are described ? It's a little bit blurry to me. I guess I understood how it's possible to add bookmarks, and I'm pretty sure those I found are right, but when I want to load a modded picture for a new bookmark it tells me something's wrong. A little "how to" would be fantastic

, when it's possible of course (if I missed it in the H3xx forum just tell me

I mean the H100 firmware, as opposed to the 120/140 firmware, which is different.
The pictures are also different between International, European, and US firmware
sometimes, and of course between versions, which makes a whole lot of fun in trying
to support all of them...

If you use your own, newly found bookmarks, you will always get a warning that
unknown areas have been changed. H3Mod only trusts the predefined bookmarks
that I have verified and hard coded in the program. The warning does not mean
that the firmware is really damaged; if you are sure you marked an image, go ahead
and save it anyway. The warnings will be there until I decide to publish a version with
the new marks as part of the program.

Not much of a howto, since you know how to add bookmarks, just do that, and save
the bookmarks to a file. Next time you work on the firmware, load this bookmark file
again, and the new ones will again be listed.

Again, thanks for the infos Lord Julius, I was really wondering if I was doing something wrong with bookmarks. Now I know it's only an overall warning, I'll go on I guess. I'll also have to check the pics in the H100 1.40 EU firmware, I don't have it for the moment, but I'll get it in the near future

Anyway I'm pretty disappointed to see no one looks interested

. I guess Stripwax is, but he must be busy this days since he didn't replied here. Or maybe everyone is waiting for the Rockbox firmware before going on modding. We'll see it in the future. Thanks again for this wonderful toy

Of course there is still some pics to change

. The missing "Vbr" pic was a regret from the beginning to me, I always wished to change it. Now I can

. We still miss a lot of pics, like the "Record menu", it seems it's fragmented but I'm sure it can be found. We may list all the pics still missing. When I say "pics" I also mean the pics which contain some writings. Mr Mixin did a very nice work with this kind of pics, look at it :

Hi all,
I made some font tests to see what's going on when you change it. As far as I can tell after these tests, we have two groups of fonts.

Main player :
Latin extended 8*16 -> major font (playlist, artist, song, album names displaying) Working
Latin 8*16 -> stil don't know ATM, maybe it's used by the text viewer function.
Latin 8*8 -> system font (boot, shutdown displaying) Latin 8*8 doesn't work, don't try to change it now.

Remote fonts :
Latin 6*6 -> ?
Latin 6*8 -> ?
I didn't really investigate the remote fonts but it seems something's wrong with it.

but (there always must be a but ...) only the popup prompt boxes work great ... the others are all wrong on my 1.65US firmware ... that's a pity

just a question : Why are you using the US firmware if you live in France ? :d
To answer your question, H3Mod allows to litteraly "browse" the firmware. To do this you need to enable the advanced mode. Once it's done you need to look for pics via the zoom window. The tricky thing is to find the pics because it's not only a matter of place, you also need to find the size. Good luck
