Succesfull battery change

Hi,
just changed my battery for one of these this evening Buy iRiver H110, H120, H140, H320, H340 Extended Battery at GPS For Less Limited (only £12.98 and it comes with a tool like the ones in the dismantling instructions post)) (it says its for a H110 but it fits) its a 2200mAh battery so I`m hoping my H10 will last longer now, the old battery was lasting less than 2 hours.
Its not too difficult change the battery using the instructions (provided you have a small amount of technical know how)at the link posted earlier. I didn`t dismantle the H10 as much as it tells you in the instructions just enough to get at the battery. I could not get the back off so I had to use the wriggle and pull method, as mentioned in one of the posts after the instructions, which works but a word of warning these batteries are very soft apart from the edges and its easy to squash and bend them. In fact by the time I found this out I had no choice but to change it as the original one got a bit mashed. It all worked fine when I put it back together and the new battery is charging now. Will update new battery life once tested it out.

Update on Succesful battery change

Hi,
Not done a full test yet but the battery life is looking good. Previously when using Rockbox I`d had to turn the backlight auto off down to 3 seconds and in fact had to revert to using the Original firmware to get my H10 to last for 1.5 hours. Now using rockbox again back to 10 seconds before backlight goes off and after an 1.5 hours the battery capacity indicator (not sure how accurate it is) still shows full, previously it would have been red by then.
Note it takes a few hours to charge the new battery (over 4 went to sleep then and it was fully charged in the morning)
Will try to get time to do a decent battery trial soon

Just bought the H110 battery and I'm a little bit scared because I'm French and I don't really understand the sticky thread about battery replacement... :X

Anybody have news about H110 battery's life ?

This is a forum about the H10. The H110 would fall under the H1xx forum (different player entirely). Did you have a typo? The H1xx has a small joystick type thingy, whereas the H10 doesn't.

I bought the battery from the link in a post before. " Buy iRiver H110, H120, H140, H320, H340 Extended Battery at GPS For Less Limited "

They said it's a H110 battery, but that it works with H10.

It does work with the H10. Mine is going strong haven`t done a full trial yet but its in excess of 4 hours which is great as my old battery was only just managing 1 to 1.5 hours on a good day.

Ok, just wanted to make sure you were in the right section. I have seen others who see that it has a 10 and mine has a 10 (even though it is 110), and get confused. Hope someone here speaks French to help you along.

I just installed a Cameron Sino 2200mAh in my H10 - will post battery life results when available! I did have to take the back off though, I think some of the tape-like substance on the end of the old battery was stuck between the bottom & side sections?

I encode my music at 192VBR so the files are kinda large & therefore put more drain on the battery but I'm still getting 18-20+ hours of playback! I've got the iRiver v2.51 firmware installed & the files are a combination of mp3's & wma's. Before the replacement, I couldn't get 4 hours of playback - so needless to say, I'm a happy camper! That daughterboard is a real mother to get out though, at least in my unit - the screws were REAL tight! Make sure you have a small phillips-head screwdriver (with some good torque) to make the change - unless you're lucky enough to remove the battery without taking out the board...

man ...changed my battery last night! I didn't take the back plate off, just the front and carefully pryed the HD out of its place..
Crazy! bent the hell outta the old battery getting it out, and once i sorted the wires out ( i pulled the white plug off carefully, stickytaped the wires together to thread them thru the right hole) reconnected it and slid the battery in as carefully as i could! It took a little forcing and luckily it worked! Hopefully I didn't damage the battery getting it in there...it didn't bend at all, but it was pretty tight.

I didn't take the daughterboard off, but seriously contemplated it...
All in all it was pretty easy and now i'm stoked cause I have had at least 2hrs playback so far, before it was like 20mins. I'll report back on how it goes.

The battery I used was this one:
2200mAh HI BATTERY FOR iRiver H110,H120,H140,H320, H340 - eBay Other MP3 Players, MP3 Batteries, MP3 Accessories, Consumer Electronics. (end time 27-May-08 12:16:48 AEST)

So let me make sure before I order: The battery for the H1xx and H3xx (CS-H110XL)is the same hattery as in the H10 20GB. Or am I wrong in thinking this?
