Battery Dies overnight after full charge
Ok I have purchased an H10 20 gb. I have uploaded latest firmware, 2.53, I believe. Player works fine otherthan...........
Fully charged battery unpluged from earphones and PC. Go to bed. Wake up next morining.... Dead battery. Charges in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. During play back it shows no signs of a weak battery. I just received two days ago so I am still kicking it around to see how it reacts. Yesterday I had it charged and 2 hours later completely dead. Won't even turn on. Ideas? I don't want to purchase a new battery yet. If it is something internal other than battery then I don't want to waste money on new battery.

Thanks for the reply.
Power off set to 30 sec Sleep timer set to off. Since you can not simply turn off the music (only pause) Is there a proper way to turn off? Could the unit still be active if the music is paused? Sorry very new to the Iriver maybe stupid questions.

fully charged maybe 1 -2 hours ago. The unit still feels warm. Not hot but warm to the touch. Is this thing still running????????? I have turned it on 2 -3 times to check battery bars. So far all bars.

Thanks done that as well. Well either the battery is dead or something (or someone) is draining it. Today, I charged it full by 9:30am. I would turn on the player occasionally and look at the battery bar. I watched it dissipate. By 12:00pm it was dead.
Later on in the day I got out in the car and ran the player. This was after a full charge. It still had about a 2 hour life if running. So running or not the battery will last 2 hours. Question why would it drain down while it is turned off?????? I hope the clock is not that powerful. Oh crap my H10 has a nuclear clock. Run for your lives.

There's most likely a hardware fault then.
The power mangement options in the firmware seem normal so something hardware is wrong. If you purchased it retail it's probably best to send it back to iriver. It comes with the 12 month warranty so hopefuly this fault wil be covered. |

It's quite complicated but simply laptop batteries lose roughly 20% capcity a year if kept at a reasonable temp of 25 degrees celcius. I'm not sure if this is exact for mp3 batteries but it must hold some truth. If the person you bought if off continually used it and had it in thier pocket that temp may be higher and that further reduces the life of it (amongst other things). I wonder if the person you bought it off knew the battery had a bad charge hold on it? Last edited by Fuzional : January 5th, 2008 at 05:36 AM. |

I bought it over ebay. No response yet, so I am holding the seller ratings until I get a response.
So should I go ahead and buy a battery and assume it will last or try to send it back to iriver for hardware repair? If it a hardware failure that is draining the battery then a new battery is a waste of money. What does the forum think? I can install a battery myself. I have read the thread on how to do that. (Great information thanks to the forum).
