IF your H10 is not detected in Vista... FIX
In my case Windows Vista Ultimate (probably the same case for other versions)
If your H10 is not being deteced in Windows Vista; its most likely due to an update. My 6gb H10 was no longer recognized a while ago after a bunch of updates, so i slowly removed the updates until it was recognized again.. turns out the specific update is for Windows Media Centre. Remove the Update: 1) Goto Control Panel; 2) Click 'View installed updates' at the left hand side 3) Look for the following updates: 'Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista' (KB93281 4) right-click and uninstall them; restart your computer and plug in the H10 Installing H10: Its going to detect its as an iRiver H10, look for drivers on windows update, and fail.. its then gonna ask for the CD; select the option 'I Dont Have the CD' select the option to browse for the driver on your computer the search location is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 *** It will take a while, and its going to repeat this process for installing drivers for about 4 or 5 items.. so you must repeat that process a few times.. it'll take a while..*** - i dont know why Windows vista doesnt search the SYSTEM32 file automatically, its weird.. but it works |
