Red face DB Open Error

I attempted the MTP/UMS conversion described. I have gotten to this Point - "DB Open Error. Connect iriver plus And DB Update”. Don’t worry about this error because a media database generated in MTP mode is not compatible with UMS mode. Use iriver plus or EasyH10 to recover this error. However, I cannot get beyond it
I have attempted to Run EasyH10. It builds the database, but i continue to get the message. Also there are two folders, one marked "Media" and the other "Music", as opposed to Media/music. In addition, I have no idea what it means to " Make sure to use an appropriate UMS model template. " any help would be terrific

Hello...I'm having the same problem, and I'm here to join in the search. For some reason, I keep getting the DB Error message and it won't go away.
I've tried rebuilding my songlist with the Easy H10, and also reinstalling my firmware. Doesn't seem to help. I have just deleted all of my songs off of the H10 in order to clean it out...but still no luck.
I'm a Canadian, but I bought my H10 in Japan. I think it's the opposite of what north american models are. It's not the UMS model. So I don't know if that will present more problems. Though I did download the firmware update from the japanese site. So it should be a part of the problem.
Any help would be a god send. thanks

Are you both sure you have EasyH10 configured correctly. You need to tell it what type of H10 you have, because the database formats vary slightly. Also when you run Easy H10 set it to the mode where it creates a NEW database, not where it updates an existing one. Does EasyH10 give you any sort of errors?

Smile easy h10 config

thanx for your reply - i'm not at all sure that easy h10 is correctly configured - i have a 6 gb h10 that was problematic from the beginning. i visited iriver.com and downloaded latest firmware. 8 of 10 attempts at trnsferring music recieved "unspecified error" message. I then attempted the MTP/UMS conversion. it appeared to work, easy h10 built a new database on the device. all looked good. however, when i disconnected the the h10 from the pc, the error message "DB Open Error. Connect iriver plus And DB Update” appears. At this point i am stuck. Is this enough info. thanx again

In EasyH10 you have to tell it SPECIFICALLY which model you have. It needs to know if it is a H10 or H20, the size of the drive (5gb, 6gb, etc) and the format MTP or UMS. This is done from a single drop down menu as I remember (don't have it with me). Then make sure you select the option to build a NEW datbase, not the one to update an exsiting database.
