How to control H10 20 GB player via the Car CD player
Hi All,
I have a question for which I need an answer fairly quickly. We recently bought an CD / MP3 player for our car. I would like to connect my H10 player to the car audio system and also want to navigate through the files on the H10 system using the controls on the audio player. Do any of you know if this would work? Thanks. |

Simple answer is, not likely. H10's use a proprietary connector on the bottom of the player for data transfers and the like, so unless your car stereo has a USB 2.0 port that you can plug the H10's proprietary cable into, and it can detect the H10 as a hard drive when the H10 is booted in UMS mode (or can detect MTP players when it's not, though I don't think that is possible yet...), I wouldn't count on it.
However, that's not to say you won't at the least be able to listen to your music through your car's stereo system. You could use a tape-deck adapter and listen that way, or an FM transmitter. |

Thanks
Thanks much for the quick reply. Looks like controls is difficult but listening to the MP3 player via the car audio is possible. I heard that FM transmitters are not very good in terms of tuning and recption. Can you send me some links for some tape deck adpters that are compatiable with H10? I think we have bought the following JVC player from Best buy.

Any cassette deck adapter that plugs into the headphone jack on the player will work. That being said, the player unit you have doesn't have a tape deck, so even that's out, unfortunately your only option would be FM transmitter unless your deck has a line-in connector somewhere you could stick a cable to with a 3.5 mm headphone connector on the other end to plug into your player.
EDIT: Looking at the player specs it doesn't mention any line-in support, so it looks like FM transmitter is definitely your only option... |

So you need to go to radioshack or similar and get a 1/8" (3.5mm) to 1/8" (both sides look like the connector on a headphone) cable.
Iriveramerica has quality cables (but shipping is $ for something so small): http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...t=products.asp It's listed as a "line-in" cable, but it works as a line-out cable from your h10 into your new JVC car stereo. This obtion is much, much better than an FM-transmitter. If you want to hook your h10 into your home stereo, you should also pick up a "y" cable: http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...t=products.asp
