charging without cables
i have lost cables, unable to get them right now. however i have taken my
h10 apart to gain access. i have a multi output power supply. the original charger provided 5v supply to charge. my question is do i have to charge by using the data port pins or am i able to merely connect 5v supply directly to batter plug |

If you've taken apart the player to get at the battery, I can assume you have a 20 GB model, since the 5 and 6 GB models have removable battery packs... If you have an appropriate charger to charge the battery with directly (ie. supplies the correct voltage and can connect to the battery) you should be able to charge it without any issues.

what i have is a radio shack digital camera power supply. i cut plug to expose 2 wires. this is a variable power supply and can be set to 5v 2A output. so seems that i can connect the two exposed wires to the battery wire that i disconnect from connection point inside player. and yes it is a 20g h10.

Hmmm, I would highly recommend against charging the battery with anything other than a proper charger for it if you can't charge it in the player itself, they do exist but they're quite expensive. Something like what you described is quite dangerous, and, though it *might* work, I wouldn't try it because you could damage the battery or harm yourself.
EDIT: here is a site that sells chargers for various battery types, including Li-poly batteries such as the one in the H10. I'd suggest you get something meant for charging them so as not to harm yourself or damage your battery. Last edited by Karashata : October 10th, 2007 at 11:36 AM. |
