usb (only) faster charging while playing: simple trick

I run my h10 at work with a spare (OEM) usb cable.
I found the following trick helps to charge the h10 faster
if you are listening while charging (when only usb charging):

1) set everything up so that you are listening as you want
(album or playlist, volume, etc.)

2) unplug the usb cable for "N" seconds, "N" being the # of seconds
that you have your back-light timer set for (see settings menu->timer).
h10 screen will go dark.

3) plug the usb back-in (don't touch anything else), the screen will remain
dark (saving the screen and the charging LED is on 95% of the time vs. 50%).

If you need to change anything, the screen is re-lit and you have to repeat
steps 1-3. So only applicable if you are listening to a decent size album
or playlist.

Of course, this is less efficient than charging via ac-dc power adapter
as a USB slot only provides .5A max (vs. the 2A from the adapter).

Someone really should tell iriver to change the firmware so that the backlight turns off while the unit is plugged in, either with a seperate timer for while it's plugged in or with the same timer they already have. Rockbox does the former, giving its users the ability to set a time for the backlight shut off in both plugged in and unplugged states.

Of course, since iriver doesn't actually support the H10 in regards to firmware updates anymore, it won't ever happen...
