Hey all,
I've done some relatively thorough searching on this issue, but I haven't yet found a definitive answer, so please forgive me if this has indeed been answered somewhere else. I'm interested in upgrading the stock Hitachi 20GB drive in my H10 to something larger. From what I've found so far, the easiest upgrade is to another 1.8" Hitachi drive--30, 40, or 60GB. However, these are extremely hard to find for sale online (even at span.com, where the 40 and 60 are "unavailable"), and the ones that have popped up are pretty expensive. I then checked on prices for the 1.8" ZIF Toshiba line of hard drives, and I was easily able to find the 60GB version (MK6008GAH) for as low as $85 on eBay. (I used this post as a reference for the Toshiba drive model numbers... very helpful!) My question then is would any of these Toshiba drives work as a replacement for the stock Hitachi drive in my H10? Has anyone tried this before? If it's not possible, I'll probably just go for a 30GB Hitachi, but I'd much prefer the 60GB if it's compatible... (Here's the most relevant thread I could find on this topic. I just got mixed messages from that one, though.) Thanks! |

Well, maybe I'll just have to be the first then...
Any news on Rockbox support for larger drives in the H10 (according to this thread at the Rockbox forums, Rockbox won't boot with a 60GB drive in it)? I'll post a new thread in the appropriate forum for this also, but I figured it was worth asking in this one too. |
