Help - H10 20gig problem

PROBLEM ( sorry about the caps ).
bought this about a week ago, used.
seller told me ' all was good ' with it.
charged it, and deleted all songs, and loaded up about 5 gig.
when playing either through headphones or speakers in car or anywhere,
sound cuts out abruptly on either L or R side for sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes longer. when the sound comes back, it seems to slowly fade back in.
im guessing its one of 2 things...
a) headphone jack needs possible replacing / rewiring...
b) OS ( is there an OS on this thing ) maybe needs rebooting ?

i bought this for $80 ( talked him down fro $100 ).
are either solutions a possible fix to this ?
or have i been ripped off ?, and should try and get my $ back ?

If it slowly fades back in EVERY time, then it is most likely not a bad SOLDER joint. Re-soldering it is not going to fix that. If it were abruptly going from full off to full on it would indicate a need to re-solder the connections.

I would say that if you bought it under an assumption that it was "all good", then I would say talk to him about returning it. I believe that refurbished ones are about the same price.
