5gb h10 missing system files

My h10 says it is missing some system files. it will not connect in ums mode. when I follow the instructions to connecting in ums mode it will go to a screen that looks like this one:

with the only difference being that it says "um 1.05 mtp initialize" across the bottom. It then goes into the usb connected screen. windows recognizes that there is something connected to the usb port but it dosen't show up on my computer and it doesn't show up in wmp 10 and none of the iriver firmware updaters recognize it. Iriver tech support was no help and the links they gave me to 3rd party iriver repair doesn't seem to work.

umm, "um 1.05 mtp initialize" just means you have old firmware (not v2.51). you're just describing the proper UMS procedure, that I can see. does the player show up in My Computer? if so, manually install the firmware from the MTP link in my sig.
