The only possibility is get a HD enclosure, and put the drive in that. If that doesnt work, your player is dead.

Don't open the hard drive. You're most likely going to make things worse. Try reinstalling your drivers first.

Go into your Device Manager (In the Control Panel) and find the H10 (It should be in USB devices) then choose the option to uninstall the drivers. Once finished unplug the H10 then plug it back in. Hopefully it should find it and work again... Unless it's a serious hardware problem.

Grr, forgot they moved it in XP lol.

Right-click on My Computer (Doesn't matter whether in teh start menu, or on the desktop - if it's there) and choose "Properties", choose the "Hardware" tab on the window that appears and click "Device Manager" on that.

For some reason, part (probably all actually) of me is thinking that reinstalling drivers on the PC isn't gonna fix a broken player...

You're right, but we don't yet know if this player is actually broken.

Send it to iriver to get fixed,
Send to misticaudio to get fixed,
Open it up an check for loose connections (Only if you're confident enough),
Buy a new player.

Unfortunately, it seems to be a hardware failure.

In an earlier thread, Rayyan mentioned it taking a bath, so it is definately a hardware problem. Really, I would say you now have a colorful new paperweight.

Not sure. Depends who you get to fix it. Try calling your local iriver rep. They're listed on the iriver website.

Because you've voided your warranty not only because you've opened it, but because of the water damage, you'll most likely have to pay for any repairs.

Try this...

I had a similar problem with my old cell phone. What I did was put it in a Ziploc baggie with some silica gel (those little packets that come with shoes, say DO NOT EAT), left it there for a couple days, and it worked like new. Probably wont work with yours, because it's been sittin for a while. Just my 2 cents...
