Long Voice Recordings
I'm hoping to make some very long voice recordings, say five to six hours, or more. Hopefully I have enough disk space to use medium quality, but we'll see.
First, this project is simple if there's a way to use a timer to record voice. I don't see an obvious way to do this. Any chance this is possible? I'll experiment with this, but what's the longest time I should be able to record from the battery? For this project I won't have access to AC power. I'm thinking I might provide aux power from external batteries, say use a 6V battery through the USB connector. Anyone tried this? What happens when the recorded file hits the FAT32 limit? Does it automatically make a new file? Is there any way to use an external mic? |

you can only use a external mic with a cradle (very hard to find) don't use a 6v battery as it may fry the player (should work, but why risk it) this may be better for extra power. i don't think files are spilt (i'd search for more sure answer)

Hello john - i use my 5GB H10 for line in recording (with the craddle) & i think that the longest time i managed to record with the battery is about 4-5 hours. Might be longer time using the internal mic, who knows ?
As far as i can remember when the power ran off the recording stopped BUTthe file was saved. I remember i managed to switch the unit on again 2 or 3 times after that & record some additional clips of few minutes each... However, my H10 is a bit unstable (regarding file transferring & battery life) but for recording i find it to be a trustable tool. Your unit might work longer or shorter than mine (also depending on how old the battery is) so i suggest a test drive before making an important recording. Good luck & hope that helps ! |
