Newbie needs help with battery life.

I have a 20gb H10, approx. 2 years old, but I'm not very active in the community. I use it only as an MP3 player, no album art or anything fancy. I use Easy H10 and know nothing about Rockbox and all those other things.

My problem is that as of late (the last month or so) my battery life is unbelievably low. I charge it over night and the red light goes out. When I turn it on, there are 4 bars and it plays for a while. Then it suddenly drops from 4 bars to no battery after about an hour. What is the problem? It happened suddenly so I don't think it's my settings. I used to get about 6-7 hours of life but all of a sudden I get only an hour. It sucks.

Any ideas as to what's wrong? Is my battery dying? Do I need a replacement battery? Would it help if I updated the firmware? I really have no idea what I'm doing so if you could explain things like you would to a 6 year old, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

How'd I do?

My stock battery in my H320 started its death spiral at about the one year mark as did a lot of others. I use an external battery pack, but such may not suit your needs....
