Post H10: What YOU'd like to see...

I know this was done before, but the thread disappeared, so i'm staring it again.

Do you have any features you'd like to be added to your fave player, the H10?
If so, please share them with us, hopefully, if iriver is watching (Coughs) they may think about it.

I'll start us off:
1) Truly On-The-Go playlists
Actually make a playlist and be able to save it. Also allow putting in songs to the qwuick list like Windows Media Player's Enqeue function.

2) Photo Zoom/Pan function
Hey, the player is decoding, resizing and displaying the picture already, why not let it scale it less and give us the OPTION to pan and zoom the image, okay maybe zoom would be 100% and "Fit Screen": but it would be really helpful for little details.

3) Skinning the Screens
I cant believe it's been done with the T10 so soon, but it has, so why not the H10? Okay so we did get as far as doing the startup/USB connection screens, but what about the menus, menu BGs and now playing screens? THAT's what we need to focus on now. Hopefully the .mi4 file will be revealed soon.

4) USBOTG Adapter and capability
Let the USB port plug in an external mass storage device and allow browsing and usage of files.

5) Bring back the proper browser!
I don't like the browser only showing compatible filetypes, i reckon it should show all files, jsut so i can check say, that i remembered to save my schoolwork on the hard drive.. It would be really useful.

6) Delete Anywhere, except the Music folder (Or maybe including...)
Unlock this, as i really want to be able to delete the Podcasts that i save, and the text files i have already read or no longer need.

Anyway, there it is, put in your views below, hopefully we can se these happen in the future!

Id love to see it showing album art on the now playing screen like it does in wmp and of course id love to be able to skin the player. As for video, well i could live with out that but id like to see some games on it, i reakon the scroll wheel would be great for games like pong or breakout

let's not forget about a decent shuffle function. if that was working well, I think my H10 would be pretty close to perfect for me.

Yeah, right now, I have no problems at all with my H10, and i don't think there's a need for a new firmware...

I would like to see:

Album Art
Skinning
Fixed EQ that doesn't reset all the time- this is what pisses me off the most about my iriver.

Video (if it can be done- but I am fine without it)

1) Erratic crashing and connection fixed (not a feature, I know)
2) Proper Bookmarking (i.e be able to listen to the radio and then get back to where I was.
3) Make the 20GB the same size as the 6GB
4) (Dreamland) DAB and FM radio
5) EQ on the radio

how about adding entire artists, albums, or genres to the quick list, rather than track by track? Thats my #1. #2 would be bookmarking, and all the other suggestions look good too. (please look iriver! I promise if you answer me my next mp3 player will be another iriver!)

i think the h10 is almost perfect what i would like to see in its future are, fix it were the backlight turns off and wont turn back on till you reset it, sometimes the battery shows while playing its empty when its full[its also fixed by reseting], a good file transfer program. media monkey is slow, wmp messes shit up easyh10 isnt moron easy.

do you really need to see album covers? or video? i think the screen is too small.

I think they should maybe rewrite the firmware, adding some features for easier playlist making, enqueuing songs, editing a Now playing list, like creative Zen micro. Right now it's all just basic pick an artist and play just his/her songs or by genre, and also you got shuffle which is terrible. Well, if they don't update, there are other brands and players to consider in future

I would really like to see photo pan and zoom functions. That'd make the H10 REALLY unique in terms of displaying pictures.

Woot! My 100th post!

Additionally, to the list:

- It would be great if it didn't take 5 years for the playlists to load
- Album artwork, like the iPod
- A less fuglier font
- Fixed screen glitch where occasionally the screen backlight doesn't turn on so you have to get a pin and reset the player
- Much, much faster photo loading because it is unbearably slow
- A tile view of the photos, like the iPod photo
- The scrolling gets continually faster because, believe it or not, I have more than 20 artists in my 20gb iriver
- An alarm where it plays music instead of useless beeping that's too quiet anyway
- Support for word files
- Direct access to play mode from the Now playing screen

Hmm that's just off the top of my head - if I actually sat down and had a good think Im sure I could come up with a million more ^^

iRiver get your act together

I wrote to iriver America about 2 days ago and asked if they were going to release any new firmware, straight out yes or no. They replied with the following:

iriver America Response: (06/14/2006 12:09)
Hello XXXXXX,

iRiver America Support is currently unaware of a new firmware in production for the iRiver H10. Please check the support page often for updates.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will pass it to our development staff for consideration.

Thank you,
XXXXXXX.

___________

It would be awesome to see a few faults fixed, like earlier mentioned the backlight issue which i've just discovered. Is it really needed for me to carry around a paperclip everywhere so just when a problem arises I have to reset???

If i'd know the little problems (Which do add up) I would probably never of bought the H10 in the first place.
