iRiver H10 5GB Formatting/Connection Issue ?
I've owned my H10 5GB for almost a year now, ran totally smooth until about a week ago when I got an error saying ""System Files Missing. To restore the system files, connect H10 to iriver plus". So, I went to iriveramerica, downloaded the MTP updater as it said. And here I noticed something wierd, like, really wierd. While I had the mp3 player on and plugged into my PC, it wouldn't let me extract the files from the .zip. I pull the plug and I have like 8 windows of WinRAR where I was trying to extract it. Wierded out by this I went and ran the firmware updater I'd just installed. Step 1, hit next, that wasn't hard. Step 2, connecting the device, and here's where the issues begin. So I took my iRiver which was on and displaying the System Files Missing error, just pulled the battery out (it won't let me turn it off any other way, to my knowledge), waited a few seconds, stuck the battery back in, attached the USB, started holding on the O button, hit the power button, kept holding the O button and it read "UMS Connect V. 1.00" then went to the USB Connected page. I return to the firmware updater, and it's still waiting for me to connect. I've pretty much already given up hope, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm fairly positive I've done the UMS trick correctly, I've tried atleast a dozen times now, and it's never shown up under My Computer. I looked into that thread, tried the .zip, and it really wasn't of any use. The "pnpreg.exe" didn't even open, and I followed the steps for the fixup.cmd, which didn't really help either. Thanks for the help though, but I think I might as well start looking for a new mp3 player.
