What To Do?

Hey folks, I've got a bit of a predicament here. My H10 (5GB) has been acting up lately. The battery only lasts around half an hour. Now, normally I would just go buy a new battery, but the player is getting sort of old and has been dropped a few times, so I don't want to spend $40 on a battery if that won't solve anything. There is some corrosion on the battery ports after every charge, so that leads me to think that it is indeed the battery. Should I buy a new battery, or save my money and buy a new DAP altogether?

you should get a new battery.and use a connectors cleaning liquid (?) that cleans the connectors of the battery compartment.just use it carefully.

even a 1 gig nano if you need one sooner, load up rockbox on it, and you have a pretty good DAP.

i'd get a new player. a friend of mine's boyfriend bought a 5GB H10 last year...just told me that he'd traded it up for a 60GB 5G ipod. can't say i blame them...

...but still - the re-furbed 320's would be a good deal, and you could get the last of a dying breed. (same be said for the 120/140's)

go with an Ipod/Rockbox combo. You'll get more storage and lots more accessories. I've been in the same predicament, trying to decide if I should invest in another battery and a dock for my H10 5G when it's more than a year old and more than likely has seen it's last FW update ever. Take a look at Iriver's new little "toys" they are foisting on the public, including their Ipod-killer Clix. The jury's still out on the E10, but there really isn't much consideration for the core demographic that made the nearly mythical H1XX series the benchmark it is today. Cowon's newest gadget, the Iaudio 6, isn't that far from the Clix, just another toy. And Creative and Toshiba aren't really contenders for serious music lovers that enjoy great features and lots of storage. What a quandry.....

....guess I'll enjoy what time I have left with my little DAP and keep drooling over Andrewmel's thread about his RB'ed Ipod, thinking of excuses to give the wife for an expentidure she would never understand or tolerate

if you should decide to use a "contact cleaner" make sure you get the electronics component contact cleaner and not the "degreaser". Usually the contact cleaner you will want is in the shorter can. You can buy it at Home Depot, Lowes, Grainger, and mabe even Walmart. Spray some on a q tip and not the player. Make sure it is dry before you power up the player.
