Question Boot Problem On Iriver H10 20gb Player

Yet another boot problems

I have a 20gb h10 (MTP) bought from amazon, (uk), in April 2006.
I decided to upgrade the firmware to 2.51.

Follwed all the steps , see below: (trying it in work, on a networked PC)
I read somewhere to format the drive, within my computer

> downloaded: iriverFirmwareUpdate r v.1.20 (MTP)
> Reset with a pin
> Ran the program:
> Next to the initial screen
> Connected when asked (player turned off)
> Held down the "o" whilst turning it on
> Received Emergency Connection
> It takes a while, then gives me a warning, "Please check your network connection" (got this messages on a standalone PC too)
> Click OK (only option)
> Then it says: found your device (iriver H10 20GB)
> As I formatted my player thru my computer, it tells me my current firmware is 0.00.
> So I Manually do it, it says my current version is 2.50, enw version is 2.51
> click next, recover (to format and reinstall H10_20G_MTP_EU(V2[1].51))
> Once it has completed, i disconnect the device
> it get stuck on the blue screen, all it says, "Boot 1.02" and "MTP Instalize" Reset set he device a number of times, but it seems to be stuck!!!

Can anyone help??????? (pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee ee)

a possible solution

is to download the firmware manually and update it manually via the iriver firmware updater.this way,you don't have to worry about a single BIT that will make your iriver turn to an expensive paperweight..

all the other procedures are as usual (the update and stuff)

GOOD LUCK and enjoy your player..

Send a message via MSN to caramelsoul
Go into the settings menu, your firmware version is at the bottom.

Thanks for you replies guys,

matantan - i've updated the manually via the firmware updater, updates fine but when i disconnect it stays on the boot screen (boot 1.02 MTP Instalized.)

Caramelsoul - I cannot get into the menu at all.

Any other suggestions guys, before I send it back? Would make a difference if i too out the battery and put it back in? Are there instructions to do this?

Thanks.

taking out the battery will simply reset the player, do this if you havent already. if you have already, then theres really no point.

Exclamation wow wow wow hang on..

Don't send the player to repair yet.
Download the firmware AGAIN from iriver EUROPE
connect the player in UMS mode
and start the iriver firmware updater.
now, when you pre-arranged the update procedure, try again.perhaps the player wasn't booting at all and although it seems the software recognized it-it wasn't ready to transfer the proper firmware files.just try again a few times.doesn't work?reset the player and try again.it will succeed eventually.my friend had a creative zen micro with the same problem and i fixed that problem by trying repeatedly
