Help! iRiver H10 20GB firmware update maybe frozen!

I'm in the process of updating my friend's H10 20GB (just bought) from firmware 1.51 to 2.51 using the iriver Firmware Updater. After following the destructions, the device was (eventually) recognised by the tool. It then proceeded to download the latest firmware (v2.51), formatted the player and has the following message displayed:

"Now the firmware files are being copied to your device."

The progress bar has been at 0% for the last 20-30mins and I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to unplug it if it's going to brick it and I don't know what else to do. Anyone have any ideas?

I'd have to say to unplug it. I don't really think that it'd brick it....

If that H10 was mine, I would've unplugged it ages ago. But lets wait for a second opinion

Well, we're past an hour and it still looks like it hasn't done anything. Anyone's suggestions (even if your suggestion is to unplug it) would be nice .

Well, I bit the bullet and pulled it out. When I plugged it back in, the firmware updater could tell it was an H10, but couldn't tell WHICH H10 (US or Europe). I selected the right one from the list, ran the update again and it went off without a hitch. Thank gawd .
