H10 20GB's battery

I read on Cnet that the battery is not swappable. So how much does it cost to do that?

you can't swap it and to my knowledge iriver will not put in a new battery (unlike apple which charges $99, or used to)

So what you are telling me is that after the battery run out, I have to throw it away? In that case, how many charges can it take?

UMS trick: connect the player while it's off to the USB cable, reset the player, while turning the player on - press OK button(O) 'till your cumputer "discovers" the USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE (UMS-D).... Now: in the top bar of the player's window press Tools---->Folder Options---->View(tab)---> View Hidden Files and Folders
Proper Icon for your H10 !

that would void any and all warranties as well as risking breaking other things on the player

If the batery is dead or near dead, the player will most likely be out of warranty, so you might as well try putting a battery in yourself.

Exactly. There are some questions:

1) How much is the replacement battery and where can I buy it?

2) How hard is it to replace the battery? Where can I find intructions?

I personally don't know the answers, but seem to remeber discussions about opening the player and doing battery replacements a short while back. Try searching the forums.

At 1500+ charges on the battery wouldn't that be 4+ years assuming you charged it every day. I wonder if the device will still be current in 2010. I wouldn't worry since you will probably get another device by that time.
