Unhappy help! please!

i have a beautiful and loved h10 20g but now i got a horrible error message (system files missing connect to recovery tool) and the player doesn't turn on. i tried to download the upgrades from iriveramerica.com but the computer doesn't recognize my player so i can't install them. does any one have any kind of advice? i'm completely lost and can't stand another day without it!

You need to do the UMS trick first to get your player recognized as a hard drive on your computer. After doing this then you can transfer the necessary files and perform a firmware upgrade. Remember, this will format your player so make sure you have a backup first.

Also, look at this thread:
System Recovery

This has happened me also twice. I sent it back to iRiver both times.

Basically your HD is not working. You need to send it back to iRiver if it's still under warranty. If not then I'm afraid it's probably no more good.

You could try and open it up and fix it yourself of course!!
