Can anyone offer a noob some help.

H10
20GB
Firmware v.1.51 pfd

I'm not retarded but I can't figure a few things out. I just got my h10 today. I just got a few questions.

when i try to turn off the h10, I don't believe its turning totally off. I hold the power to turn it off. And it acts like it goes into standby. Doesn't bother me if it doesnt waste the battery though.

As of now I'm still using wmp to transfer my mp3s. I tried using easyh10, but my computer is not recognizing my h10 as an actual drive....well its not giving it a drive letter and the program wont function without me telling it what drive it is.

I am at v.1.51 and want to know what the best f/w is. I believe 2.5 is what is on the iriver website. I've read that using the intl version fixes a glitch, but you lose your settings on each reboot. Thats not worth it to me. But if 2.5 is just an update and it doesnt hurt the functionality of the h10 i'm fine.

thanks in advance guys. I'm suprised there are soo many people with h10s. I love mine. I call it my radio tivo. I love recording my local morning radio show and listening to it 5 hours later on my drive to work. Amazing!!!

1) to make your h10 turn off totally, turn it off, then poke a paperclip or something in the reset hole.

2)Did you connect your player in UMS mode? easyh10 will not recognise it if it is normal mode (MTP).

3)Im not sure, but it made my 6gb MTP a little faster in browser and loading pictures, so if that doesnt bother you, then it doesnt really matter

without breaking the battery circuite using the reset hole, the h10 never turns off. i goes into as you said "stand by" mode as do most DAPs it is very rarley a battery problem.

I think you lose all data if you update the firmware...

dont know for sure because i dont have a h10. but i wouldnt think so. when you update the f/w on the h300, you dont loose any data. far less people would update f/w if you lost all your data methinks.

You guys are awesome. I ended up updating the the newest us version. I'm way to lazy to hit a reset button each time. I'll just keep using windows media player if its the only one I can use with mtp mode. The songs dont transfer so slow thats its not a big deal. I did 1gb in a few minutes.

The standby mode will last for 24 hours. The advantages are that if you turn your player off while playing a song or listening to the radio, the player will keep in mind what you were listening to and immediately turns on.

If you wait 24 hours or longer, the player 'forgets' current playing number and has to boot again when you turn the player on, which will take longer.
