Mmkay. I kept getting freezing problems with WMP10 and syncing, so I search around about the issue, and one post suggests using iriver Plus. So I download it, and put all of my songs in its little library.. cool, cool. I sync my files over and in a flash it's done. Awesome. I disconnect and they all play. Sweet. I only had to do the UMS trick to get it to work though.
So after I do that, I turn off my player and pocket it. A few minutes later, I remember not seeing a particular song on the list that was supposed to sync over. Shows boot screen, but I notice UM 1.10 in the bottom left on the boot. That was never there before. Mind you I have the US version of the H10 (5GB). And as soon as I started asking myself about it, a message pops up "System Files Missing - To restore the system files, connect H10 to iriver plus." DOUBLE YOU TEE EFF, MATE?! So here's what I've tried so far.. -- 1. Letting iriver Plus fix it. = No dice. -- 1. Use Explorer to format the H10. FAT32. 2. Use the software CD and download the firmware. = No dice. -- 1. Use Explorer to format the H10. FAT32. 2. Use the software CD's 'Recovery' feature to get all the files. = No dice. -- And after all of that formatting, it still gives the iriver Plus error and it still has the UM 1.10 thing. Eep? This has to have happed to someone else. Any fixes? |

At the top of this page follow the link saying:
If you see the message "System Files Missing. To restore the system files, connect H10 to iriver plus" Click here to resolve. If that doesn't do it, manually download the latest firmware, extract the zip and put all the files on the device by hand.

Hello, ppl; just join'd misticriver and 1st wanna thank everyone for the real helpful posts, especially the ones about the "missing system files" issue and the device lock-up at the start-up creen "MTP initializing";
I have encountered both issues, after trying to upgrade the firmware from ver. 1.0 MTP (UMS connect 0.90) to 2.05, and the device would just lock-up at the initial screen; then I formatted it using Windows --> quick format (fat32) and used the Upgrade tool from iriver website; it tried to install ver. 2.51, but with no success (froze at the same start-up screen); finally, I tried copying the System folder and the .rom file manually (ver. 2.03, 2.05 and 2.51) --> "missing system files, please use Upgrade tool to restore"; What worked : 0. Download the ver. 1.0 of the firmware (with UMS connect 0.90) from iriveramerica (http://www.iriveramerica.com/download/H10/H10v10FW.exe) 1. Connect the H10 using the UMS trick; 2. Right click H10 in Windows Explorer --> Format (Quick, FAT32) ; 3. Copy the .rom and the System folder from point 0 into the device; 4. Disconnect --> device restarts 3 times and boots normally (with ver. 1.0 of course); 5. Upgrade from 1.0 to 2.51 using the iriver Firmware Upgrader tool Hope it helps |
