Want to get rid of the volume cap - MTP UK

Hi,

I am from the UK and have just bought an H10 6GB - overall I am quite please with it but I am a little dissapointed with the volume on it - I am running firmware 2.10 MTP - I understand that the UK version has a volume cap on it.

If I download and install the US version of the firmware:

1) will it install OK without killing the H10?
2) will it remove the volume cap?

anyone else done this?

thanks for any advice...

Are you running 2.10 or 2.10E? Only the 2.10E has a volume cap.

I've just changed my f/w 2.10E (which has a volume cap) to the US f/w 2.10 and the volume cap has gone! The SRS sounds much better as well.

So far not experienced any problems, but be aware that your warranty becomes void!

Initially I went to the iRiver US site to load the f/w 2.10 but that didn't work, when I checked I still had 2.10E, so I canged my H10 into UMS and then back to MTP with the US f/w 2.10.

Thanks for such a quick reply!

How did you change it to UMS?

Check out the URL, follow the instructions to change from MTP to UMS (don't bother transfering the music files if you're going back to MTP). Then follow the instructions to change from UMS to MTP.

You may have to arrange your music again which you can do using Easy H10 software http://easyh10.sourceforge.net/ or just reload the music.
