Boomarks??

Hi,
I am considering buying a H10 5gb. I will mainly be using it for listening to audio books and was wondering if there is a bookmark function. For example, if I needed to switch it off part way through a chapter could I start again from where I left off.

Thanks
Dave

not really a "bookmark" function. but the pause button. just pause it and if you turn the player off, it will be paused where you left off when you turn it back on

I haven't tested this with the new firmware version, but with the older versions if you let it sit for more than 24 hours it would "reboot" when you turned it back on.

Thus loosing your place within the song/playlist/book.

yes, that's correct, so don't leave it off for that long, or just don't turn it off and keep it charging

Sounds to me like the h10 isn't really for you...
If you are scared of loosing your place and don't really want to leave it on and charged 24/7 then you might want to consider getting another DAP. I'm not trying to talk you out of the H10 by any means. It's a great player... But I think that the H300 has STUDY mode also. Meaning you can skip 10 minutes or so into a song/audio book making it much more practical for finding your spot. Correct me if I am wrong but I think that the H300s also have bookmark functions... Maybe, maybe not.
Hope some of this helps.
~Peace!

hi airline1,
I owned a H10 5 GB and I can tell you for a fact that it does not support bookmarks. Also, if you were to stop playing a track (audiobook or otherwise), and you come back to it after > 24 hrs, the device will reset to the main menu. I emailed iRiver to enquire whether any updates is in the works on the above and iRiver's reply was an emphatic 'no'.

I have since purchased an additional player (a Creative Zen 20 GB) as I listen a lot to audiobooks. It supports 10 bookmarks.

Not that I'm trying to push for Creative but the device was cheaper than my iRiver H10 5 GB and it serves my purpose in the end.

Anyway, all the best on your search for a device that suits your needs.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies.
I eventually went for the creative zen sleek 20gb which has a bookmark feature.
This is my first mp3 player so have nothing to compare it against, but so far I am well impressed.

Thanks for your help all.
