Question H10 Firmware: what if the update goes wrong?

Hi. Can anyone help me with a really basic question? I've worked out that the Version 2 firmware upgrade via Iriver plus is for the international version (ie non-US?) which is what I have (UK). Last time I tried to upgrade using iriver plus (after many attempts in which the net connection dropped out), the h10 went beserk, said the system files were missing, wouldn't let it switch off or do anything else, so I had to take the battery out and take it back to the shop, which did something to it and then said that the Version 2 upgrade was only for the US unit and not to bother with it (which from this site appears to be incorrect!).

If I try to download it via Iriver plus again, what, if anything, can I do to avoid the beserk problem? And if it does happen, how do I deal with the 'system files missing' issue? Should I be trying to download it without Iriver plus? (I'd really appreciate a 'for dummies' level explanation).

Thanks for your help.

Totally and utterly wrong! There are 2 types of firmware for the H10: US and International Firmware. The newest US version is 2.01, and the newest Int version is 2.00. There is also a US 2.00 out there, but don't confuse it with the Int 2.00, they are different. If you use iRiver Plus to download firmware, you will always download the Int FW. To get US FW, you have to use an iRiver Site to download it. Since you have an Int player, you should use the iRiver Plus download of the Int FW. This should work fine, mine did too. Good Luck.

Thanks for this. Previous attempts to download via iriver plus have not ended well. If it goes beserk again this time, how do I get back to at least the old version of functionality?
Thanks again.
