Hi,

I've just put iHP tool on to my iHP120 but I've found a problem.

For some reason 2 songs (Buick Mackane - T Rex & Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith if you are interested) come up with artist and album as ???

Why is this?!

Their tag details are the same as all the others.

I've even tried removing them from my iRiver and redoing the database but the ??? is still there.

I'm confused.

yeah, i see your problem, i get the same.... i think this has been mentioned already in the forum, so try a search for it and you may get your desired answers......

I use TDT (Tag Database Tool) and have not had any tag issues. http://tdt.sourceforge.net/tdt.htm It also will truncate or otherwise fix too-long filenames.

Its possible there is another id3 tag version that is not completed. ihptool looks at only one tag version and doesn't search others for missing info (I think????)
Check the downloads section for tag editing software if you don't have some already.

Yeah, ID3v1 and ID3v2 are probably not exactly the same. Sync the tags and the problem should go away.

I have deleted all my id3 v1 tags using tagscanner to mke sure I don't get problems like this. The program has an option to copy from to the other and only update empty fields, so I selected my whole collection and copied the info over and then deleted all the v1 tags. Didn't take that ong becaue most of my songs only had v2 tags anyway. Maybe a bit pedantic but what the hell right!
