iRiver H10 not recognized... with no UMS mode.

I bought my shiny red H10 5GB player more than a year ago, and it has always been a reliable player, and up until now, it's been completely bombproof. Not long ago, I went to turn my player on, and got nothing. After a while of trying to turn it on, eventually it decided to eat all of it's system files, thusly giving me the 'System files missing.' error. So, following the instructions, I connected it to iRiver Plus, and got nothing.

My computer no longer even recognizes my player, and when it does, everything freezes up and I can't access it anyway, which is not helpful to me at all.

I have been digging through countless sites, following threads with similar problems to mine, but to no avail. I've tried switching it to UMS mode, and it won't even do that. I disconnected the battery first, reconnected it, tried again; nothing. When I connect it, it says 'USB Connected', so there's nothing wrong with the cords, and my player has suffered no mistreatment over the time I have had it. I can't find any straight answers, and I'm extremely upset about it... this thing was perfect for so long, why has it suddenly become a very expensive paperweight? I like it a lot and I don't want to get a new one.

Please don't tell me to search the forums for an answer, because I have looked, and there isn't an answer available that helps me. I would really just like to get this resolved... I shouldn't have to buy a new player because this one suddenly goes haywire and I'm offered no support for it whatsoever. I don't have the money to buy a new MP3 player every time one suffers another ridiculous problem that nobody has an answer to.

Sorry if this was the most obvious thing that you did first, but once you had disconnected the battery and placed it back in, did you hold the "o" button, and then press the on button, whilst continuing to hold the "o" until it said 'Emergency Connect'?

Also, have you tried this thread?
