H10 playlist sync issues

I have an iRiver H10, Windows Media Player 10, and firmware 2.51. I was wondering how to remove songs from a playlist on the iRiver without deleting the actual files from the device. Windows Media Player automatically deletes any songs from your iRiver that you remove from a playlist on your computer. How do I prevent this from happening? Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, is there a way to resolve it?
