Iriver H10 20GB - Numerous issues

Sorry for not placing in the right thread but this P.O.S. has so many issues it's tough to pick 1.

Here's the state of my affairs:

1. Bought this for my son Xmas 2006. He said it never worked from the get go.

2. I now have it. I have a Dell 8400 running XP with SP2. Windows media player V11.

3. I don't have the original Iriver install CD.

4. When I connect to the motherboard USB device is not recognized by Windows.

I've tried on 3 PC's - none recognize the device.

5. Loaded software from IR site - we connected still no recognition by XP of device.

6. Reset unit and powered back on holding the status button - flashing window stating missing system files.

7. The unit will turn on but the slider is totally unoperational.

All ideas are greatly appreciated with the exception of throw it away. I've already come to to that step.

Thanks to all!
