T30 - need to upgrade to UMS and FW Updater doesn't work

I've posted this to the T30 forums but there hasn't been any response. Perhaps someone here knows. Customer support hasn't been very helpful either.
They've told me that they don't support UMS in the US, yet the firmware url on the Iriveramerica site clearly shows that they do.


Here we go again. I finally upgraded to 1.71. A I stated in a previous post the Firmware Updater wouldn't perform the upgrade. It recognized the T30 but never showed the MTP-UMS button.

Customer support sent me a zip file with the firmware to be copied to the data directory. I performed the upgrade on a Win XP computer and came home to see that my Windows 2000 Pro machine STILL can only recognize it as an MTP device in WMP 9!:

I decided to look at Nyaochi's site again and do some checking. Sure enough, I think that the file Iriver Customer Support sent me is just to upgrade to version 1.71 for MTP! All this after telling them I specifically wanted to use the unit as a UMS device in Windows 2000 pro! This is the zip file they sent:

The opening line of the *inf file from that zip is:

SET_MODEL_NAME = T30 MTP!

Obviously, this is MTP firmware (as Nyaochi labels it).

I think the correct UMS firmware that I need for the US market is either here:

Does anyone know which one is correct?

The OK zip has this in its inf file:

SET_MODEL_NAME = T30 UMS

and the NO zip file reflects this line in its inf file"

SET_MODEL_NAME = T30P UMS


In addition, http://www.mtp-ums.net has this slightly older firmware.
