MusicID
I pretty like the MusicID function in Iriver Plus, but the problem is that it only support mp3, ogg etc, but not tta, ape, which is my favourite format. Do anyone have any suggestion on other sopftware that also has MusicID and support ape, ogg? Or is there any chance to modify Iriver Plus in some way so that it can process ape, tta files? Thanks.

I am not referring to the tag editing feature only. When you use Iriver Plus "Indentify track individually/as album", you will see on the upper right corner of you screen a logo "powered by gracenote" logo, that means that it is using database provided by gracenote, and the track identifying and auto tag modifying feature is what I meaned by MusicID, as this name is also refered by the gracenote website http://www.gracenote.com/. I want to ask if anyone knows that if there is other program that use also MusicID?(I mean it can use the gracenote database to identify and auto modify tag.)

It sounds like MusicID just doesn't understand the filetypes. Otherwise it would know how long each track is, and so forth.
Tagging has always been one of my peeves (anything that requires tagging, improper tagging by myself and others, etc). There's probably a lot of Windows apps that will aid in tagging files as well; I used a Foobar2000 plugin for a while (which uses CDDB iirc), because I knew that the player supported all sorts of wacky filetypes. |

Oh, right, you're talking about something like that.
Well, I know that WMP links to a database somewhere and can automatically fill in any missing tag info. Alternatively, programs like EAC can be used to fully tag your files as you rip your CDs (EAC uses freedb). I went to the Gracenote site that you linked to, then clicked on 'Powered by Gracenote', then clicked on 'Software' - this is what I found. That should answer your question as to what other software is 'Powered by Gracenote'. |

I tried that link too... say the famous itune, but I cannot find any MusicID function in that program, so I think maybe powered by gracenote does not mean MusicID only, but also other application provided by gracenote would be included.
I tried freedb also, but since all of my album is japanese and is not thast famous, mostly I cannot find any information from freedb, even if I search find that, all of the information is translated into English, that's why I don't use freedb. But MusicID, which give the original japanese information. And I think MusicID would recognize other format, but it is the problem that Iriver Plus itself do not recognize the format( Iriver Plus do not allow cuesheet, ape and tta format to be added into the program music library), that's why I think it is not the problem of MusicID. I tried to use WMP, but it seems that WMP also do not recognioze cue, ape and tta.... |
