Hi
Having had a play with some of the file organising software out there I have finally decided to bite the bullet and write my own. At the moment it is file based as my tags are in too much of a mess to work with and my H340 seems better when dealing with plain files. It only works with a 2 level file structrure as per stuff ripped with WMP. Your original file structure stays the same but the one on your player is a bit neater. It has the following features 1-A nice tree listing all the artists and albums. You can select just the albums you want and it tells you how much room they take up. This is good when your collection is much larger than your player. This is saved between sessions. 2-You can set it so that artists like "The Orb" get copied over as "Orb, The" and "Bob Dylan" gets copied over as "Dylan, Bob". It can group artists into folders based on the first character of their name. G:\D\Dylan, Bob\etc. It might even get the ability to merge 2-disc compilations into one folder. Its at the stage where I am using to to manage my collection. I just need to add the code to detect new folders and delete stuff you de-select. Should be a day or so and then you lot can have a play with it. A couple of questions in the mean time, 1-What disk sizes should I cater for? 1, 5, 10, 20, 40,and 60 Gb enough? And any idea what % of that space is actually available when formatted? 2-Does anyone know of any nice .Net libraries for accessing tags? 3-Has anyone got a problem with it NOT handling G:\Cure, The\Three Imaginary Boys (Deluxe Edition)\CD1\ I have no plans to change it but some of the stuff i have downloaded has been in that format. 4-This is just stuff I want. Is anyone else crying out for anything else? I know there are a load of apps like this out there but I hope this has something new to offer. Have a look at the screen shot and see what you think. Thanks for listening. Shaun |

Third that looks good. I would suggest you take the time to look at people's requests when they make them to turn this into an iRiver friendly app as we all love to see ones that make our players even better supported.
Keep up the good work. BTW take a look at http://sourceforge.net/ to see if you can get this hosted. |
