Sluggy & Readonly Iriver

Heya

Ive had my E10 for about a year now, and its worked just fine for me. Never dropped it or gotten it wet.

Lately I noticed that it takes a long time to shut down and when I connect it to my computer it takes a minute or two before registering and becoming available.

Yesterday I reset it and I managed to upgrade it to the 1.04 upgrade. That didnt really help.

Now to the major problem.
I cant delete anything on it. I says the file does not exist, ,even tho it clearly does.
I cant initialize it from the Iplus 3 player or format it with the basic WinXP option. And Ive reset it about 10 times yesterday.

Any suggestions?
I really just want to erase all there is on it.. to start over so to speak. I feel pretty sure that some of the "boot" files or similar has become corrupted.

Thanks

go for it mate...looks like you've got nothing to lose...as long as you can put back the songs on it obviously...and whatever else was on the E10...

also...how would you be doing this "erase" procedure?...just using the "format" function on my computer or just totally different?

Well the problem is that I cannot erase all or any of the files.
If I try to do, well, pretty much anything on my E10 (while) connected, I get a message saying that the device timed out. I have found that I can delete files 1 at the times if I go into the individual folder and delete the files manually.. extremely times consuming to say it mildly.. and probably wont help with the underlying problem.

I cannot Initiate or update my firmware now. Iplus3 player crashed after I plug in my E10 player.. and since I bought it in aussie on a trip, it looks like Im done.

Any suggestions would be most welcome? Any way i can format it or otherwise reboot it completely?

Try using the format command in CMD. Open start menu, press run, type cmd then a black windows pop up, write format x: /FS:FAT32 /X where x: should be the drive letter found in my computer. This will delete all files, including the photos that came with, videos, music the database and ALL other stuff. It won't even be a single folder left. I hope nothing (aka it starts after format), but I'm not 100% sure, so try at your own risk. After finish (if it goes without error), immediately use plus 3 to initialize the mp3, without even disconnecting, else it could happen strange things. After this, update through plus 3 (1.04 is now official, so it will update to this ver.) Then you could find a post here which lets you download predefined content, which I suggest you do so every file will get back and you could test it. NOTE: I haven't tried the above instructions, but I'm pretty sure it will work, or it will not work. But remember, do this on your own risk, but I don't think it will be a problem. Good luck!

just remember that the e10 is a media player, not a flash drive player. The format will COMPLETELY wipe the e10 of everything, including it's firmware OS. I did this and it did not re-create the folders in the e10, so just make sure you have all the folder names written down just incase
