iRiver E10 CustomEQ Settings

howdys yall...

ive been messing with the settings and levels of various stuff in the E10 i got recently...i do have to say that i am slightly disappointed in the sound quality area... (my old iFP 795 had a more "responsive" custom EQ) other than that...wat a machine this thing is...just has soo many features and did i forget to mention the remote control ability?...

anyways...back to the main point of this thread...

for the E10 users, if you would like to configure the CustomEQ, i have this setting for you:

50K = 8 green bars
200K = 6 green bars
1 K = 5 green bars
3 K = 5 green bars
14K = 7 green bars

this is the best setting i can get after numerous hours of listening and adjusting different columns...My guide was my old iFP-795 and i tried those levels/settings on the E10 but they just sounded off and "un-tuned". So this is the closest i can get to the iFP-795 but it does lack a wee lil bit of bass...not as deep and thunderous...

It really does depend on the type of music on your mp3 player. What kind of music have you got?

well....ive actually got 3 sets of headphones/earphones

I mainly use Sony MDR-E828 whilst on the go or at school (i like the compactness and portability factor with the included case). But i also do have 2 Sennheisers (HD201 and PX 200) and leave at home. Despite the PX 200 having a carry case as well, I find that its a bit bulky for a students life...but the audio quality is top notch - if you can get a good fit on your head as some people can't.

The sony's i have go well with the EQ settings i posted, but for the Sennheiser's, they need a lil tweakin as their hi-end response is better and the treble needs to be turned down a smidge.

Oh...forgot to mention, i mainly have RnB hip hop and urban music with a bit of Rock and easy going stuff like Alicia Keys and John Legend and Mary J Blidge...

I also have tried other headphones from Skullcandy and JVC etc...but their response and audio playback is far below that of Sennheiser's and the Sony MDR-E828. I should also mention that my ears don't like the soft earbuds that some companies manufacture e.g. Creative EP-630 or Sennheiser CX300 and various others....they either dont seal properly or fall out too easily.

WOW for wat?

on a different note...does anybody know what function or point the WOW part does in the audio quality spectrum?...to me it just sounds like the music loses its bass and seems to be played through a speakerphone and muffled.

(I'm talking about the SRS WOW equaliser)

The SRS WOW effects is a eq setting, so if you adjust one of the options, and then press ok the SRS WOW eq setting will be applied, but i think Custom is better, but you might want to try...

Talking new setings for Logitech Z-2300 Speaker System

howdy yall again

I have the Logtiech Z-2300 system and have had my E10 MP3 player hooked up to it for around 3 months and have been "busily" fine tuning the Custom EQ to suit the 2.1 system. (It is renown for this speaker system overpowering bass)

So i have finally cracked the best EQ i can find to suit the speaker system:

50k = 4 or 5 green bars (any higher and the bass will start to "muddy" up the music)
200k = 6 green bars
1k = 5 green bars
3k = 5 green bars
14k = 7 green bars

This CustomEQ setting is a great improvement in audio quality according to my ears and i find the bass has been turned down to a more realistic level and the hi end notes have been oomphed a lil bit to sound like there are tweeters on the speakers (even though there are none). Should I say the mid range has also been oomphed up a bit as well?

enjoy

i just realised i have more settings for different headphones i have at home but not sure if anyone else out there has them and uses them with the E10 as well....

i also have:
Sennheiser HD 201
Sennheiser PX 200 (used to configure the custumEQ settings)
Sony MDRV700 DJ headphones
Sennheiser MX 500 (truly terrible earphones to be honest)
Sony MDRE828 (also used to configure the customEQ)
Yuin PK2 (newly added to the range and used to test against the CustomEQ)

and another interesting fact...i just realised that
shiroc is an anagram of my name Richos....

Last edited by Richos : May 13th, 2008 at 11:07 PM. Reason: update Yuin PK2
