Shutting down the e10 properly???
When I shutdown my e10 (by holding down the power button) it says "shutting down..."
But when I start it up again it comes on straight away, and the cartoon picture of the e10 doesnt come up. It just appears at the menu straight away, without loading anything, as if it's just in sleep mode. Am I shutting it down wrong, or is it suppose to do that??? |

I'm think it is so...
If it shows the cartoon, the battery probably is almost empty, or it was empty and then you load it, and then it could appear. But my is a little bit f***ed up, so it almost everytime it shows the cartoon picture. But i dont think it's something wrong if it shows it. Last edited by musichound : April 27th, 2007 at 03:12 PM. If it start fast, it has been in the sleep mode. The e10 need about 1 day for it to completely shut down. So, sometimes if you switch on the player and find your battery was drain, there in no shock for it.

normally, the e10 isnt completely turned off. thats why you can use the remote control, without turning it on. also, if you press the power button when hold is on, you should see the message "hold/remote control". this is true on matter whether you will see the cartoon picture at next startup. so i think the cartoon issue is more about initialization than on/off.
e.g. if you press the reset button, then it will reboot, and show the cartoon. but this is a fun trick some smart Misticriver user tought me: if you turn on the hold switch, and them reset, it will not boot then, but next time you start it you will see the cartoon!

I have read about the so called "Clix battery issue". That is, after ~24 hours, clix tunrs off completely, and before those 24 hrs have passed, the clix is in a "sleep mode", consuming battery. So much battery life, that if you use clix each day, just a short time, then the sleep mode between the moments you have you clix turned on, so the battery is drained within some days! After just some few HOURS of listening to music!
But it's possible to shut down clix completely by enabling Hold, and pressing Reset. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, i know that the E10 and Clix are slightly different, and have different battery life. But the above fits well together with what XDeathLoRdz wrote, and the fact that the Hold/Reset trick makes sense also with E10. And myself i have noticed that sometimes i have surprisingly low battery power left. And that happens when i havent used e10 in some days. What do you think? Has e10 the same issue as the Clix? Have you had any problems from this sleep mode? Should iriver do something about it?

I myself didnt try the hold and reset because i scared that my little cute player will be ruined. lol . But i heard many others say that by holding them and resetting it will shut it off. I believe this is true but if something happens, please don't say that it me teaching you all the method, it Haxx0 :P lol
ps: If my battery get drained up, i just charge it up. But i have the hobby of charging it every 2 days, so it hard to drain up.

OK. i never said you teached the method, that must be a misunderstanding.
anyway, i am the kind of user that leaves e10 without charging or use several days. so i will have no problems testing the battery life with ONLY the sleep mode. actually i think the tests have started already. yesterday midnight i unplugged e10 from the computer, and it was fully charged. im going to turn on and turn off e10 each night, and we will see how fast the battery drains. and later i could do the same test, but shut down with the reset trick instead, and we will see if there is any difference.

that is quite suprising. your e10 seems to work quite different from mine. maybe it's a firmware issue? what firmware do you use? myself i have updated to version 1.04.

Yes, a Very long batterey life. And haxxo, if you want to test the battery, remember to set the song to keep going. or else it will stop halfway, just a reminder.

i do have version 1.04. the thing i have noticed, is that it stays on 3 bars for quite a while, 1.5 weeks, 2 bars for shorter (6 days or so) and probably about 1 bar for around...2 days or so. that equates to just under three weeks. add the weekends where i don't use it much and that fits into about 3.5 weeks.
