Vista & iRiverplus 3 installation issue
G'day E10 buddies
For those interested it seems possible to install iriverplus 3 onto Vista. I am running Vista and tried to install irp3 this morning and recived an error. Appears that the installer checks windows version prior to starting the install. Fear not. If you right click the iriverplus installer icon and choose properties > Click the compatibility tab > Change to XP SP2 > Click ok Now rerun the installer and and it will proceed as normal. I've not much testing with the software and Vista but I did place some photos in the E10 this morning without a drama. Hope this helps someone Rob

Update:
Bad news Vista lovers. Although I have installed it ok it appears that it won't update. Hopefully IR will address the issues to make Vista compatible. Rob

when i had it installed on vista a while back, it kept "downloading updates" at every startup, which was weird. unreleased english software on a barely released O/S is a double no-no.
also, MC is a waste of space, it takes so many resources to run, and its pathetic. i suppose you are forced to use it if you have an xbox360 to plug it into |

G'day PLusPLus
I found if you change the shortcut to the iplus3.exe instead of the launcher.exe it won't keep performing the check when it opens. You can also disable the auto update feature from one of the menus in the software Shame you find the MC pathetic. I love being able to record two channels simultaneouly and view all my photos sorted by tags on my TV when people come over. . . Out of curiosity what product do you use to provide these types of features? Rob

humm yeah, i just use a tv, my tv card was awful, so i didnt use it that much. also incompatible with MC.
gotta love the vista photo explorer thing though, thats nice with the slideshow. also wmp11 to play my music, as i now have a clix, rather than a u10 which needed iriver plus |

Update - Not wanting to be deprived of teeny weeny album art I did the following
Installed the iriverplus 3.0.5 installer onto Vista Laptop Copied the iriverplus3 folder from my XP machine onto the vista machine and overwrote existing 3.0.5 version Opened Iriverplus 3 on Vista and it was at version 3.1 Glory as I can update my album art on the Vista laptop. Not the most elegant solution to the problem but a solution none the less.

G'day
Better solution now. Shift click iplus3 and choose Run as Administrator. It will then update and work ok Rob
