If you can't find it after going through all the menus, chances are it isn't there.

I heard someone say once (can't remember who) that a clock isn't possible on the H1xx because of hardware limitations.

Why the hell would you want it too???

Only reason i see to have time on it is for time-stamping some radio recordings, which h120 doesnt support.

Strap a watch around it would be your best bet.

It's not an included feature.

Nature's way of getting us techheads to talk to other people on those rare occasions that the mobile's flat and the computer's off

Paddy, I'll tell you how to get the clock on the H120 to work if you can tell me how to get the radio on the iPod to work.

There is no hardware clock on the iRiver H1xx Series. They would have to use processor cycles to manage a time feature, which would require you to set the time every time you booted up. This could also (slightly) degrade playback performance, and take up memory. And your time might not be accurate.

Implementing a clock IS theoretically possible, but it would be more trouble than its worth. As it stands, there is no clock on the iRiver H1xx series

Sorry, no clock. US models of the H300's do have one though.

Newsflash: iRiver did not build the iHP-1xx with Rockbox in mind!! The fact that the iHP-1xx doesn't have any kind of clock when running with the iRiver firmware should probably have been a clue that Rockbox wouldn't have a clock either!!

I wonder if a soft/firmware clock could be added. Of course, I assume that this would eat up power as the player would be in a constant state of a form of on. Mind you, I'm not proposing this, but see it as an interesting matter to think on.

Why would I want a clock?
I do a lot of microphone recording which requires that I edit the file time stamp afterwards. Do-able but a pain in the b**t.

It's not that much of an advantage....much easier to, say, have a watch or just pull out your phone... not worth whatever engineering bother it would take

Because wrispoopypoopypoopyp oopyches were invented 100s of years ago and do the job perfectly. Who'd want to have to carry around a DAP all day just so that they could tell the time?

I have a lot of time for people on this forum who make constructive comments and suggestions, but the people who constantly bleat "I want this, I want that" really get on my tits. What next? How about asking iRiver or Rockbox to incorporate a television tuner. Perhaps make it into a mobile phone. Maybe a Star Trek teleporter.

Hey, I may not be Columbo, but there's real clue in the phrase Digital Audio Player. It's a listening thing.

Grow up, kids.

EDIT: MR obviously doesn't like "wrist watch".

I think it's the middle four letters between 'wris' and 'ch'. Rhymes with cat.

The point of having the time on the DAP isn't so you can ditch the good ol' wrist-watch and carry around a DAP so you know what time it'll be whenever you glare down at the screen, its simple an additional feature with good use. If that was the case then iRiver would simple make a digital clock and sell that.

However, considering that is just happens to be a thread regarding the H1XX series, and its time-telling capabilities (regardless of whether is has or hasn't the capability to display the time), I do beleive it is perfectly constructive to discuss the issue... and if thats not enough, look at the Forum name, hence 'Mods'...

... need I say more?
