My H340's battery completely died a week or two ago, after more and more rapidly running out of juice.
A friend had success with putting batteries for various electronic devices in a freezer to reset them and I saw some passing references to this trick on this forum. So I took the battery out, put it in a ziplock freezer bag, froze it for 24 hours, let it thaw for 12+ hours and put it back in my iriver. Works like a dream now. Probably not news to a lot of people, but I did a bunch of searches prior to trying it out and couldn't see anyone on misticriver saying that it had worked for them. |

Slightly off topic but I'm just trying this trick on a laptop battery (currently thawing out) - will I need to charge the battery up before use? It'd be good to know for when my iriver batteries eventually give up the ghost !

I would think that the renewal process is only temporary, to be honest with you. I mean, when the cells are gone/dead, they're gone. It's probably an reaction causing whatever scattered cells there were, which weren't interacting previously, to charge up a bit.
Let us know how long the battery keeps, and also for how long each session (after charging) lasts for. Doug

I popped the battery back into my laptop this morning but sadly I don't think the freezing tip worked in this case. The laptop is pluggd into the mains at the mo. but it is failing to recognise the battery.
I'll keep it plugged in for the rest of the day but it was a million to one shot - the battery died about a year ago! It was worth experimenting though |

I haven't timed how long my battery now lasts, but it's back to something like what I remember it being when I first bought it. I probably have to charge it every 2 or 3 days, but I don't use it the same amount every day, so I can't be very scientific about it...
Almost 2 months down the track and no appreciable change from when I started this thread. |
