H320 charging problem/flashing screen
OK, so a couple of days ago I noticed my iriver was taking quite long to charge (it was already half full) so I turned it on and the lightning bolt on the battery came on indicating it was charged. This hasn't happened before but I wasn't too worried because Denny said in his guide that his iriver has been doing it for a year or so without any problems. So the next day I charged it again and it did the same thing only this time when I turned it on it said complete then kept charging. I had this same problem when I first put in the battery and it turned out the molex plug wasn't in far enough. But back then when I unplugged the charger the iriver wouldn't even turn on. So anyway I opened up my iriver to see if the molex plug was in properly and it seemed to be but I took it out and plugged it back in again anyway. I then put the iriver back together but the red wire connecting to the battery was kinda loose (was only connected to it by a thin strand of soldering iron stuff) and I managed to rip it out
Anyway the iriver seems to work fine when the charger's plugged in and no battery except for the fact that the first time I plug it in the screen flashes and nothing happens. BUT, the second time I plug it in it turns on and works fine. I've done this 3-4 times and every time but one the screen flashes then i plug it in again and it turns on. So...do you think I should shell out another NZ$50 for a battery or is the iriver screwed?? Sorry about the long post lol |

From your description of its behaviour without a battery plugged in the problem is either with the hardware or the firmware. Is rockbox installed? In some cases it can affect the way the iriver firmware acts. A reinstall could help. If it is the hardware then you dont have many options, unless you can live with it behaving like that. Maybe get another battery?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I changed the battery yesterday with a Sonnet 2200 mah and it's working fine. Only difference is that when it's charging I have to turn on the iriver for it to say 'complete'. But that's not really a problem as it apparantly doesn't damage the battery anyway.
Thanks for the instructions aswell lol. |
