Using the AC adaptor does no damage to the battery. If you've replaced the battery and still have a problem then you could have a hardware fault independent of the battery.

Thumbs up

I have the portable power supply pack from that company. It is very good and I relied on it when my iRiver internal battery had sharted itself.
I've just put in a 2300mah battery bought from HERE.
It is cheaper to pick it up through their ebay store though.
Battery was the correct size and works like a charm.

Does any company include tools to remove the screws from my H320? I don't have a screwdriver that has a head that is small enough to do it.

I wanted to stick with a brand name battery, and from the looks of what others have bought around here, it seems most others do too! The majority of people I have seen around MisticRiver stuck with the NewerTech battery even though the Cameron Sino came more highly recommended. Why? Well, I figure they experienced the same thing I did: there is an easy and reliable place to buy the NewerTech (link above), but I have looked, Googled, searched eBay and all else for hours looking for Cameron Sino without finding anything (keep reading though...I did find a great supplier).

In the process of looking I found a supplier called Kokopelli (in Pennsylvania). They have "high power" kits for folks to do the repairs themselves with a 2200mAh battery in there. They even have a guarantee on the battery for the life of the player! Not bad:

http://www.kokopellimusic.us/KM_ipod1.htm

However, I live in China. The NewerTech link all over the MisticRiver site would be nice, but that will double the price of the battery just to add shipping to Asia! I am not really in the mood for a US$50+ battery!

So, for all the Asian & Austrailian buyers out there (actually, it is great for the Americas too), I found an eBay store that had just what I was looking for: Cameron Sino 2200...and not just one battery for a one time sale, but an established eBay store front that could help others of you wanting to buy but not ship around the world. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find, since it is not completely obvious from their store, but with a little work, I found the 2200mAh batteries. And with the "item location" in Hong Kong (where Cameron Sino is), it is a good option for the Asian buyers.

http://stores.ebay.com/LicketySplitAuctions

I had to go to their store (or any item) and click on their "About Me"...which is that little "me" icon next to the name of the seller (easy to find on a specific item for sale, but not so easy in the store). Then, you can see a list of items they have for sale, and the 2200mAh 1/2 gen iPod batteries are in there. Plus, it looks like all their batteries are Cameron Sino. Better link for Cameron Sino than I have seen on all the Mistic River pages...but maybe I missed something. I trust this link a little less, but this is where I found an actual link to a Cameron Sino 2200mAh 1/2 gen iPod replacement battery:

Get either a T5 torx driver to do the job properly or use a 1.4mm precision driver screw driver.

Unlikely - they're made for iPods and iPods have their polarity the other way round to the H300s.

That said, it's not difficult to switch the polarity.

Seemingly not requiring a wire swap, but 1700mAh.

Recently, I saw that individual Torx screwdrivers are available from Amazon.com, at inexpensive prices (but add something to the order, to get free shipping---otherwise, the shipping eclipses the item cost).

i live in spain too, madrid. not worth the grief trying to track down a new battery here unless you are in the know of where to go. best off just buying one off ebay.

Julsian, how has that battery been working out for you so far? Your link is the first i've seen above 2200 mah; it would be much appreciated if you can leave details on how the battery's performance has been, and whether the installation is the same as Denny's (i'm assuming it is). When you say it's the correct size, do you mean the same as the 1g/2g ipod batteries or *possibly* the same as the original h320? I'm wondering if you had to remove the blue padding or not, sorry for all the questions, thanks!

The battery is likely to be the same size. There is also the possibility that its not actually 2300mAh, and just another 2100-2200mAh that the battery makers are just trying to gain sales. Manufacturers of these batteries like to over estimate their capacity. There's a post somewhere at ipod lounge (shudders) that has some good info on this.

However, i too would like to know how long it lasts because i'm thinking about buying one for when my current replacement dies.

H140 and H340 replacement batteries are the same? I just ordered a 2200mAh battery from Licketysplitauctions for my H140 based on this thread. I assumed the batteries are the same size, etc. Correct?

thx, eric

Yep. The batteries used are the same, ipod 1st/2nd gen batteries. The only reason some of us tried to put ipod batteries in the h300's in the old days was because h100 users were already doing it.

I hope the question(s) has not been asked yet, but, when it comes to duration, what is the difference between 1700 mAh and 2200mAh? And: does anybody know a European or even a German onlineshop selling batteries for the H300 series?
