Modification List

What do you all think the best (hardware) modification of an iRiver player to date is?

I can't add a poll?

Whatever, I'll give a little list:
  • inSkinning
  • increased hard drive size
  • painting the case
  • other case modifications (brushed steel, like me and Keddy)
I will try to keep this updated and organized by player as the list grows.

None of the above, I reckon a bigger capacity battery is the best mod you can do. (If you can do it without buggering up your hard drive... ahem ahem...)

I've done the battery thing and the inskin so that kinda negates painting the case.
I'll be upgrading the HD when toshiba release thier 80Gb drive to the puplic.

So far battery's on the top of my list but that might change when I double my storage!

That'd be another vote for a high-capacity battery.

Definitely the battery upgrade for the h300's . Should be an option in the poll. I've got an inskin, well an ace of spades in the back case, and upgraded my hard drive to 30gig.

I think the battery upgrade is the best and most useful.

Now added battery option.
I voted for the hard drive upgrade (and a Boxwave miniSync cable to keep my battery charged up).

Definitely a higher-capacity battery. If I had a huge music collection then I might have chosen the hard drive option, but 40GB is plenty for me.

I'll vote for the one I've actually done -- swapping the HDD for a higher capacity one.

Yet another vote for battery capacity!

Increased storage space is great, but of little consequence when the battery runs out. With air travel, especially long trips, it's difficult at best to find either the juice or the time to recharge a dead battery.

To be fair though, increasingly planes are equipped with plugs.

Also, if you're on a flight that's so long battery life become an issue, chances are you'll sleep at some point, making it less of an issue.

Not enough to be anything to count on, especially when there's one or more connecting flights.

Except those of us who simply cannot sleep on planes regardless of flight time, have found many other frequent flyers who are the same. Thank God for free coffee so we're not dead on our feet at destination.

All modifications are good. I've done many of them and I enjoyed every single one.

Battery and HD replacement are the best and more meaningful, but other hardware mods, like RTC on H100 are quite awesome.

I voted for the HD replacement, but if you think that your player has plenty of storage then a battery replacement sure wouldn't be a waste.

I voted the HDD replacement but know the battery is really the absolute best bet, because without power, you aren't listening to anything. My first mod was the HDD (60 GB) but my next will definitely be the battery, then maybe the RTC, if anyone wishes to do those to my unit (I'm not electrically-skilled at all).

In an age of disposable electronics, any modification that allows you the opportunity to keep your H1xx alive as long as possible is definitely a winner.

Therefore, hard drive and battery replacement mods are where it's at
