hacking the Remote = infinite controller potential. (tech guy help pls)

hey guys.

anyone got an idea how the H series remotes are wired?
i wanted to hack a H300 remote for mounting (on a Gameboy!), but everyone knows the H300 stock remote has no buttons for some functions. since i don't use it at all, i opened it anyway, just to see if there's some sort of IC that i can solder to to get the functions. i couldn't find any.

so i ended up thinking. how the heck is the thing wired, anyway? how does it control the H300 when there's no on-board IC for it?

i looked at the remote's connector, and i somehow found that the number of the contacts there actually correspond to the number of buttons on the remote itself. that may be a clue as to the pinout (and that may make opening the connector the key to hacking the thing) but i couldn't figure out how the LCDs were powered and operated.

anyone got more info? :B pinouts and schematics would be wonderful.

if we can manage to pull this off, there would finally be a way to build joysticks and controllers for the emulators and other games.

Check over at the Rockbox site - they probably have some or all of what you're looking for.

opeing the remote?

how did you open the remote?

I've removed the screw on the back, between the cable and the socket; but it doesn't seem to want to come apart.

Have I missed something; how did you get into yours?
