- what player you've got (H1xx or H3xx) H360
- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...) 1600mAh - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...) iPod 1G - if you had any problem during the replacement that might be related, like having to solder wires to the battery or something. The wires slipped out all the time, but I finally fixed it by squeezing the wires using a pair of tongs.

I decided to see how long the charge would last with my new battery (CS 2200mAh, H140). I used it at work over 4 days and got 18.5 hours. Most of my music is Ogg, and I use the truebass eq setting.
Not great, but not bad. |

- what player you've got (H1xx or H3xx) H300 (0 for no hard drive :P)
- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...) 2200mAh - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...) Was told it is a Newertech, but unsure. 2200mAh iPod 1/2G. - if you had any problem during the replacement that might be related, like having to solder wires to the battery or something. I followed denny's guide - and switched the wires. It was a bit of a tight squeeze but i gently put the player back together. About a week later (while in the cradle) i discovered the battery was ballooned. My iriver was in the cradle for a day or 2 so i guess that was the death of it. Hard drive is screwed. I sent photos to the guys i got the battery from and they sent me a replacement. I have it installed and running. EDIT: Replacement hard drive (MK6006GAH) has arrived and installed. Currently running replacement newer with tabs sanded down, may switch to the sino now that i have it. So far so good with the new setup. EDIT2: Switched to the sino and have been running it for a few weeks. All is good - no sign of ballooning on my replacement newer or the sino. - what player you've got (H1xx or H3xx) H320
- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...) 2300mAh - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...) ipod 1st/2nd generation. - if you had any problem during the replacement that might be related, like having to solder wires to the battery or something. Ballooned battery after successful instalation and 3 weeks of use. No parts of player were damaged, but i lost £11+ plus time and effort on installation. DO NOT BUY FROM TOTAL-POWER-SOLUTIONS on ebay.co.uk they sell bad quality batteries, and do not replace ballooned ones.

- what player you've got (H1xx or H3xx) H320
- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...) 2200 - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...) Cameron Sino Ipod 1st/2nd - if you had any problem during the replacement - Followed the script. Minor difficulty getting the old battery molex to part. After switching the wires they did not feel very tight in the new molex, but worked okay. Tested okay without the disk before reassembly. A bit squeezy putting the back on but got the screws in by putting some rubber bands arounds the body and sqeezing edge edge in turn. Wouldn't work. Removed the side screws, and it worked. The end screws seem to hold it together pretty firmly. I might wait for a week or two to see if it settles and then try to put them in again. On the whole I'm pretty happy. It's sitting here in its cradle charging away like mad!

From the initial charge I got 18.5 hrs playing time, so I'm pretty happy. After seeing the video, I would try to do it that way as it looks easier to get at the the molex plug by lifting up the motherboard rather than by taking off the front. When you take off the front, you still dont get very good accss to the molex plug, and for me, getting the old one off was the hardest part.

- what player you've got (H1xx or H3xx) - iHP-140
- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...) 2100 - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...) - iPod 1st/2nd Newer Tech - if you had any problem during the replacement. - No probs during replacement. Used the original molex, since it wouldn't come out (easily, if at all) and the wires had to be swapped anyway. Swapped it in back in early-mid Dec. '06. Around Apr. 12 '07 it ballooned up, causing the drive (a 60 GB replacement) to fail *temporarily*, and for some part on the circuit board to press into the screen. The 60 GB hdd is fine and the screen suffered no permanent damage. Orig battery back in place. |

- what player you've got (H1xx or H3xx) H340
- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...) 2100 - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...) ipod 1st gen - if you had any problem during the replacement that might be related, like having to solder wires to the battery or something. wire lead swap got messed up, connector got mangled and wouldn't mount. Dealt with issue by clipping one inch of wire with connector attached from old battery and then connecting the wires (swapped as per spec) from the new battery to the old connector. I didn't use solder -- rather I just twisted, folded, and taped the wires. It's been 18 months and works fine. Word to wise: twist connecting wires in this type of situation is not generally recommended. Like unicycling the wrong way on one way streets in Manhattan, it's for foolish experts only. |

- what player you've got (H1xx or H3xx): H140
- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...): 2200mAh - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...): cheap generic iPod gotten off eBay for £5 including shipping - if you had any problem during the replacement that might be related, like having to solder wires to the battery or something: The battery connector is tricky to pull off and put back as well due to the proximity of the AC adaptor connector. I just needed to swap the red/black wires and trim off the case flanges encasing the original battery with a dremel. BTW, I didn't know before, but from the weight/hardness/texture of the case when cutting off the flanges, it seems that the case is magnesium. Once the flanges cut off and the adhesive foam removed, the battery fits with no problem whatsoever despite being a bit thicker and quite a bit wider. The battery was at 27h at full charge (according to Rockbox) 2 hours ago, and now it shows 25h at 92%, so it seems fine up to now. |

Missing a category, I think
I was able to install the new battery in my HP140, and so far no swelling. But when I tried to turn the unit on, the system was stuck on "hold". I had never removed the panel opposite the microphone, but I must have snapped off the little switch that controls hold. I had to (carefully) take apart an HP320 to see that there is a really small nodule on the switch, which is no longer on my HP140.
I was able to use a pinpoint to change the hold to "off", but now of course the hold will no longer work on my 140. The Hold on the remote works, but I use the device in a backpack and I'm afraid that now I'm going to have a lot of power-offs and mp3 changes as the unit gets jostled by the other contents in the pack. I guess there is a missing category on the survey: Installed OK, but the klutzy installer broke something else. Edit: Oops, my stats: Player: H140 Battery: 2200 mAh Type: CameronSino (got it from a Hong Kong web site through e-Bay) Problems: sigh...see above |

- what player you've got: H120
- what capacity battery: 2200 mAh - what type battery: CameronSino, from LicketySplitActions on eBay - if you had any problem during the replacement that might be related, like having to solder wires to the battery or something: Main issues: The h100 battery replacement instructions in the Wiki talk about removing the screw from the side panel where the record button is located so you don't break the wires there. That was no problem. But I wish they had also advised doing the same with the other side panel (where the Play button is located). As it turned out, I found it was quite flimsy and ended up breaking it in half where the small screw is located when trying to remove the motherboard. It isn't that big of a deal, since no wires are involved and I was able to put things back together anyhow, but the simple step of removing that screw and setting the panel aside would have prevented that damage. Also, before putting all the screws back in, I tried plugging in the charger. I got a blinking green light. I was very careful during the entire operation, but after disassembling to investigate, I could see that the black wire was partially out of the molex. So, I re-seated both wires, plugged it in again and with even greater care, reassembled and all was well. Other things: I removed the old molex by first removing the wires from the old battery and then carefully working it out. It took some patience and some careful force. Small tools and good magnification are a great help! The molex on the new battery is slightly smaller and is much easier to plug in and remove. Also, when the new battery is plugged in, be sure to nestle the wires from the molex between the molex and the DC IN socket. Don't let them drape over the top of the DC IN socket so that they wind up being pinched between it and the HD. Also, don't let the excess battery wires drape across the back of the HD between it and the case. Snuggle them to the side of the HD, just behind the side panel. These two steps ensured the whole thing went back together without needing to force anything. On my first reassemble, I had both of those problems and getting the two halves of the case back together required a little bit of pressing them together. So far all is well and I am charging. The player turns on and works fine so things are looking good! |

My iriver went funny whilst in Thailand and Vietnam. Did you notice the control buttons had a little charge in them whilst using it whilst on charge? I am replacing my battery soon. Send your unit to iriver, they mended mine upto 2 years old

- what capacity battery it was (2200, 2100, 1450 mah, etc...): 2200mAh - what type it was (ionity, ipod 1st/2nd generation, etc...): 1st/2nd gen ipod, barely remember it was over a year ago - if you had any problem during the replacement that might be related, like having to solder wires to the battery or something:No problems at all. Switched the molex connector and it went in and powered on no problem. May post pix(yet another battery guide) if I'm bored at work. |

my player: H340
Replacement batt: the one from the H120 problem: it doesn't charge! i replaced it cause my H340 batt was giving me crappy life (3 hours or so). the problem is that the H120 batt doesn't charge at all. dunno what's wrong. the screen says "charging" but it never goes "complete" and when i start rockbox it always says it's 3.77 volts. |
