A H320 with a 40 gb heart..

I finally found a well priced hard drive that happened to be 40 gb today, I then preceded to stuff it into my H320 taking all the steps that other Misticriver user (I forget his nickname) took. One screw still juts out about half a millimetre.. Anyway, I turn the thing on and simply went to the Format option under the General tools section and in a few seconds voila! It was done. Strangely easy..

ANYWAY, I only missed ouy on my music portably for about a month and I was pretty downed by it. Never ever ever ever drop your H300... Be as careful as you can, I just fiddled with it and dropped at knee height and my hard drive along with my music died..

Many people here say the gah wont fit in a 320, (even you in a post) what did you do to make it fit/work?

I'll bet he had to remove or drastically cut down on the padding..... Nice work, though, regardless.

@ DB320: I'm not quite sure what you meant...and nooooooo, I don't blame the Guinness or BBD's inherent--sometimes intentional--obtuseness!!

All I did was follow that other guy's instructions (I forget his nickname, sorry) who did it first by removing 4 screws from underneath the controls panel as well as remove all rubber inserts as well as sticky taping the underside of the hard drive and underneath the control panel. But putting it back together was a complete bitch, I lost a few pounds squeezing it together and turning the screws in on the sides.. One screw still juts out about half a mm as Ive said. It was a tight fit but this seemingly worrying fact is negated considering the positive aspect that I have a slimmed down H340 for nearly the same price as a normal H340.

Oh and when I said a GAH model (double platter) hard drive doesnt fit in an H320 case I should have said that it didnt without you taking out what people consider safety functions ie the rubber inserts.

No problem, Ill probably post in a few months time about my player's status. I dont know if Ill be able to upgrade the battery due to the larger size of 2200 mah batteries.

Even with a single platter and one rubber pad removed 2200mAhs are hard to fit into there.

Newertech must be a little smaller than mine because i had to take out my padding and basically mold the battery into the shape of the rear cover. Mine was $17 so im thinking it was a cheap generic battery. It didnt have a name but "iPod Replacement" and it came with those two blue tools.

The newertech was us$29.99, not much of a difference, i thought i couldnt spare the expense when it came down to it. Also Newertech have a good name for quality, even though its still made in china.

Do the h320s have less space to work w/ inside than the h120s? The 2200mAh battery I got (made for the 1gen ipod) fit fine w/out any mods in my h120. It was bigger sure, but didn't require anything other than a little more squeezing than normal.

I've had my H320 drop from 5 feet and higher on to concrete and it still works fine.

Stock battery and hard drive though. I'm looking into trying to throw a 40GB in it, because I've run out of room with the 20GB.
